So apparently there are a couple of sides to this. One is as someone mentioned before with the money from the LHN being leveraged and that takes care of UT. OU would have to find their money and probably could. The bigger picture is framed around the longevity of the Big 12 and it doesn't look good. They know they aren't solvent and I suspect that WV is looking for a place to go as the ship is already burning, no time to slow dance. Once the conference officially goes tits up there is no longer a Network TV contract to "buy out of" This is going to happen faster than '25
The Sun Belt Conference just got a much sweeter deal from ESPN and it includes Saturday games. Folks are wondering if it is related to this. Also talk of a new "super" group of five conference. Ehh, maybe we won't have to play so many midweek games. I like the old setup App State at 3pm, followed by the Tigers on Saturday night. Life was easier then, From 3-11 I only got up to pee.
Last season I noticed Kansas was visiting Coastal Carolina. It's not that Kansas plays good ball, we know that answer, but I haven't seen them in person. I'm familiar with Chadwell's offense so seeing them, at home, versus a "P5" school fell on my fall bucket list. That said, when the SBC announced their extended media rights it caught my eye: included dates, game times, TV stations, etc. There are a few Saturday games this season (like App St vs Miami) that fall on Saturday but as I recall the additional games fell mostly on their linear network (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN+.) The release covering this came about two months ago...end of May, first of June area.
