It is impossible to do that on the entire campus. State Highways pass through it, there are hundreds of buildings. LSU has armed police on campus. If we need more then hire more, but don't arm 33,000 students and staff and another 5,000 guests. A recipe for disaster.

That's true. The most that would be possible would be some Halls, but that would certainly be a hassle if not impractical.

Your assumption about arming everyone is misleading. In reality, we would add a small percentage of armed people, properly trained and licensed. Are you sure you wouldn't feel a little safer with a few good citizens armed on campus?

And your statement "but don't arm 33,000 students..." is easily scaled "If we need more cops, hire more, but don't arm a nation of people..

I've seen too many good citizens do stupid shit. I think we leave the dealing with gunman to the only truly trained people--the police, the ones getting paid to protect the students.

Making it illegal to carry a gun on campus or near a school give police the tool they need to help prevent some of these events when they find a suspicious guy with a gun, they can take action and not have to let him go because he has a carry permit.

I've seen and heard of good citizens doing noble and heroic stuff too. On the scales the good would out weigh the bad. We have a fundamental difference in our opinion of man. You see people inclined to do 'stupid shit' and needing protection and i see people inclined to make good and reasoned decisions.

There are A LOT of true stories about conceal carry citizens putting an end to a perp's spree. There are even videos.

The NRA magazine has a monthly section the call The Armed Citizen. Every month they have 6 or 7 examples of citizens and business owners using firearms to protect their families and property against armed thugs

I would like to see you substantiate that claim with some evidence. Pick up todays paper and count the people doing stupid shit versus the ones doing "heroic stuff".

No, I believe in law and order, the basis of all that has made America great. You believe in every man for himself, that taking the law into his own hands is somehow better. Where has that ever worked?

The reason that we have law enforcement at all is because it takes training and professional experience to enforce the law. To simply enable the citizenry to start shooting each other instead of letting the police do their work is anarchy.
