I agree with Fishhead that this board is well-moderated. I occasionally read TD, but I have no desire to post there. I don't like the vibe over there at all. This board has fewer posters, but I still feel the quality of discussion is better--certainly more mature. I don't mind rival posters, even if they're obnoxious; that makes it entertaining.
You're doing a fine job over on TideFans. I lurk there often during football season and the overall mood and tone of that forum is very similar to here. I enjoy reading there.
To paraphrase Deceks . . . Timex makes at lot more watches than Rolex. Take your pick. Well, that's why Brett permits more lively banter and even heated discussions here. But honestly, even TideFans permits more friendly repartee these days. One just needs to learn the local sensitivities and the seriousness of the no-smack policy. Just like it's a mistake to come here and make remarks about Les winning with Nick's players, making corndog fools of themselves, or starting the LSU fan misbehavior fables . . . TideFans and every other board has its sensitivities that must be respected. It's crimson, not red. It's Coach Bryant, not The Bear. Aiight?
cant blame them when you hear national media repeat over and over. i guess not the corndogs thing. but i did just hear yesterday one of the stinchcombs (the one on espnu) talk about how clm has won with saban's players. he even categorized alexander and coleman as "saban's players" even though theyve been coached by clm for 5 years now.
i'd like to know what LSU's weakness on defense is. was a decent article until: edit: well, let me reiterate... the only fault i can find with LSU's defense is lack of sacks. but the lack of sacks is very meaningless since we keep teams out of the endzone -- most of the time. there were more than a few garbage-time TDs given up by LSU (especially Florida's and AU's,) but for the most part this unit epitomizes the "bend, don't break" philosophy. i'm not worried about LSU's defense -- especially with Bama's offense. i AM worried about our offense against Bama's defense, though. VT is a decent team, but have less weapons than LSU possesses. they scored 24 against Bama. it was the first game of the season, so i can let that slide. but, UK put up 20 points in Bama's fifth game (we had already found our defensive identity at that point.) this game will will be pretty even. i think LSU makes a couple huge plays, but officiating and the fact that Bama is at home will keep it within a couple of points. too close for me to call.
Terry is a Bama fan writing to/for Bama fans. Why would anyone expect him to prop up LSU? Only trolls should be run off, and they usually don't stick around anyway.
always enjoy ( a les-ism) having other perspectives but i would recommend that you lower your hackles just a bit..... you seem to be looking for the opportunity to be wounded and take offense at the slightest retort. lighten up a bit, take it in stride and understand that this isn't tidefans. come on down off that high horse and tell me again why you think the gumps will prevail.
Tidefan's Brett (Brett Young owner of tidefans.com) has had the no smack policy since day one. We allow friendly banter especially after we get to know some of the rival posters. We have several rivals that have hung around for years and Red should be able to vouch for us moderating our members when they get out of line with our rival members. Its always been our disclaimer that its not what you say but how you say it and I have lightened up a lot over the years after what was the worst 10 years for Bama since J.B. (Ears) Whitworth. I go to a rivals board understanding it's their house and we only expect the same. Roll Tide / Geaux Tigers and SNASS.
hmmm... not bad, actually. the (lack of) pass rush is almost a non-factor because of the secondary though... (our secondary is beast, son. these guys are so raw it's beyond comprehension.) so i guess the weakness would have to be the d-line. though i don' think that'd be entirely fair. but seriously, that was kind of a rhetorical question. if Bama's defense doesn't have any flaws, then LSU's doesn't have any flaws either.
