i'm guilty of it all the time. doesn't mean i can't be aware that it's a negative thing. surely didn't mean to ruffle your feathers or sound holier than thou. just a friendly reminder to keep things in perspective.
No feathers ruffled, was jus sayin. I actually thought it was a good post and nicely stated- until the "small-minded" thingy came up. Then again, who am I? :yelwink2:
came from the quote: "Small minded people talk about other people, average people talk about events, large minded people talk about ideas"
While the Raiders may have been a poor place to start one's career, his lack of drive and desire is the reason he failed. He may have swung a good deal to start but he could have made 10 times that much if he had dedicated. After he spends all his money he'll sit back and point fingers at the institution who made him what he is today. Everyone is responsible for their own destiny.
he could have done more, that's for sure. that said, people come in an unlimited variety and maybe everybody just expected too much of him. maybe he couldn't handle the fame and the pressure, or maybe he couldn't handle the freedom. seems like only he knows.
I'll always remember the wow moments JaMarcus gave me in Tiger Stadium from 04-06. The rest is just noise to me. Hope he has a nice life with "only" what's left of his 39 mill.
I can't feel sorry for anyone who took $39 million and gave no effort to earn it. It was one thing that he wasn't competent enough to make it in the NFL, but it was entirely disgusting that he gave no effort to succeed.
As soon as I saw him being interviewed a few years back where a bama boy necklace (and bama colors) during an LSU event I wrote him off. I hope he didn't blow all of his money that he stole because otherwise he's gonna be working a AT&T trying to pay bills. And I couldn't care less.
