Saw where UT once considered Lovie Smith, people are saying it would make sense for him to leave Chicago now that he is on the hot seat. I didnt know he was an assistant there at one point.
why aren't they going after a guy like patterson? is there no interest on one of the two sides? he seems like a good choice and would fit in well in the SEC. if miles left today, he'd be who i would want us to go after. any coach hired in knoxville HAS TO HAS TO HAS TO be able to recruit. i think that was the draw with kiffin and coach o. the new guy will have to be able to swing into other states and nab some guys. speaking of nabbing some guys maybe they could hire nu keese richardson, a pellet gun, and a prius to steal some guys from other states.:yelwink2:
You'd think Tennessee would be in talks with some of these coaches... Terry Bowden (North Alabama) --122-55-2 as NCAA head coach (16 seasons) --age 53 Gary Patterson (TCU, salary: $1.3 million) --85-28 as NCAA head coach (ten seasons) --age 49 Butch Davis (UNC, salary: $2.1 million) --71–38 as NCAA head coach (nine seasons) --age 51 --won 2001 Sugar Bowl Jim Harbaugh (Stanford, salary: $1 million) --46–26 as NCAA head coach (six seasons) Bobby Petrino (Arkansas, salary: $2.9 million) --54-21 as NCAA head coach (six seasons) --age 48 --won 2007 Orange Bowl Kyle Whittingham (Utah, salary: $1.2 million) --47-17 as NCAA head coach (five seasons) --age 50 --won 2009 Sugar Bowl Bronco Mendenhall (BYU, salary: $900,000) --49-15 as NCAA head coach (five seasons) --age 43 Chris Peterson (Boise State, salary: $1.1 million) --49-4 as NCAA head coach (four seasons) --age 45 --won 2007 Fiesta Bowl and 2010 Fiesta Bowl Bret Bielema (Wisconsin, salary: $1.4 million) --38-14 as NCAA head coach (four seasons) --age 40 Troy Calhoun (Air Force, salary: $750,000) --25-14 as NCAA head coach (three seasons) Jeff Jagodzinski (unemployed) --20-8 as NCAA head coach (two seasons) --age 46
If Terry Bowden is hired that would only mean the janitors dog was unavailable. Not gonna happen. BTW...See if you can find a recent picture of Terry Bowden. I saw him several times in the fall and he is the Pillsbury Doughboy. He looks more like a bowling pin or mini Charlie Weiss.
I really like this guy and think he's done pretty well at LaTech....would hate to see him leave Tech, but... Derek Dooley might be some one to consider? :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
I honestly think its going to be Cutcliffe. Unless John Gruden decides to take the job, i don't think UT will have much of a choice in the matter, kind of like USC really had no choice but to offer Kiffin.
