Kiffin backed up his smack-talk, at least in the first half. Tenn came out and punched Florida right in the mouth. 13-6 at the half Total Yards FL - 133 (69 rushing, 64 passing) TN - 127 (81 rushing, 46 passing) Average Gain Per Play TN - 4.9 FL - 4.4 Average Gain Per Rush TN - 4.1 FL - 3.5 Tebow has been sacked twice and was picked off by Berry. Berry had an incredible first half Crompton hasn't been sacked or intercepted, yet Tenn RB Hardesty has 68 yards on 13 carries (5.2 YPC)
Crompton just threw an interception to start off the 2nd half. I think he threw 3 interceptions against UCLA.
Crompton is terrible! He's got TOO much experience to be that bad so the only other explanation is that he's just NOT a good QB.
While I hate Florida (they are my most-hated rival...as surprising as it is) I just look for Florida to score here and to start pulling away. As poorly as they (UF) have looked offensively (or more accurate: how impressive Tenn. has looked defensively), but now that they are up two scores, you force Kiffin to HAVE to use Crompton. You're not gonna beat Florida relying solely on the run to overcome a 10-point game. Since we don't play UT this season, I'd like to get a Florida team ranked #1 in Tiger Stadium in a couple of weeks. You always want your opponent to have the best record possible when you play them and you want them to win as many as possible AFTER you play them. So, an undefeated UF team is better for our SOS than a 1-loss UF team. But I still want Tebow to struggle showing the world that the guy does NOT walk on water, too.
which is really strange because he looked like Peyton Manning when he played for an injured eric ainge against us, in 06 i think. Crompton just cant do anything except throw the screen, and Hardesty is having a great game.. i thought this would be a close game because of what the full monty could bring on defense. Florida may still beat them by a couple of touchdowns, but Kiffen has to like what sees from at least his defense at this point. Eric Berry is a stud, he stood up Tebow, he picked Tebow off, he is everywhere on defense. Janzen Jackson has made a couple of plays, one that saved a touchdown with a huge hit on Brandon James. What i am wondering is how is the offense going to be effective without Tebow? He commands so much respect, deservedly so, but with the small backs, and a QB that is not the 3rd best runner (touchdowns wise) in the history of the SEC. Tennessee has exposed something on UF's defense, you can nickel and dime Florida, if you get good protection, and run blocking by the hogs up front.
Tenn looks better as a team than I expected, and FLA looks very beatable, IMHO. The way Udub is playing USC, I am more hopeful that we can beat FLA now. Our schedule is certainly allowing us to build up to our A game.
