hopefully for them, not long. he is the one that picked the little douche, and the way things went down last night with the presser (if you want to call a one minute insincere statement that) and o calling recruits, supposedly from his tenn issued cell phone, to tell them not to go to class and join him at usc, his ass needs to be on the line. or head in the basket. speaking of o. was his calls to the tenn recruits any kind of violation? could it be a usc violation by a "supporter of the school" if his contract were not yet signed?
I was asking the same question. no answers. Who knows how long this was "in the works." Everything went down a little too fast.
I have a feeling the AD is not making many decisions for the program right now. He was likely told Fulmer will not be a candidate.
bhelm and drc.... was the kitten hire specifically his big brainstorm, or was he told who he needed to hire (by the boosters)?
First off, I have only talked to uncle for a short period of time today. You can imagine how bizarre things are around their office. No new info regarding the current situation except whats already been mentioned by others. Second, Kiffin was completely and totally a Hamilton hire. What was going on with the President at the time (wife was a drunk, he was leaving) left everything in Hamilton's corner. I will find out more later but I suspect bhelm is right about whats going on this time. I would bet Jim Haslem and the athletic board are pointing this ship even if Hamilton ends up pulling the trigger.
thanks for the info. i wondered because it seemsto me if/when big boosters start micro-managing and an ad wont stand up to them because of the ever popular $, things could easity get out of control. if your answer had been the other one, that would have easily proved my point.
Again, the dynamics at Tennessee when Kiffin was hired were very weird. Haslem was retiring from the Athletic board, Peterson (Prez) was on his way out and Thunder Thornton (anther big booster) was taking more of a back seat role. The boosters were also split on Fulmer being ousted and they were undergoing a change in the hierarchy. The boosters have never really been meddlers at Tenn partly because they had such a stable coaching situation for the better part of 30 years. EDIT: BTW...if Fulmer is rehired the AD will be fired before that happens and it will only happen if everyone and their brothers dog turns Tenn down.
DRC, have you heard anything about Hamilton being replaced? I would think a lot of people are not very happy with him.
