Questions everywhere. Seems quite a few pushing hard for QB Daniels to be benched. 68.8% passing percentage, just not good enough. 7 TDs & 1 INT & 1,200 passing yards not enough. He's not calling the plays, but that doesn't seem to matter to our "Bench is always betta" fans. Bring on the Nuss Bus - again. If Daniels is benched, we also lose what little rushing game we have. So a statue white QB, completing 61% passes, 2 INTs in 39 passes & No running game. This can't possibly go wrong, can it? "Building for the future". Unless Nuss enters the portal, like Max did. Seems like we're always tromping through fresh cement nowadays. Every year is called a rebuilding year. And yet, nearly every sportswriter in America & crootin analysts seem to know we have better athletes than most other teams. Listen to the Auburn game. They went on & on about our talent. And they're basically right, look at the NFL drafts since 2001. We seem to hide that talent well lately though. That leaves us with Coaching. Why don't we have a featured running back established going into game 7? Do we bring in Daniels at tailback if he's benched at QB? He's got better wheels & vision than our listed RBs imo. We haven't had a real featured RB since Clyde in 2019. I can only think of 1 time we've had an anemic RB corps like now, around 1990-1994. Until Faulk signed. And 1 maybe 2 of these current guys might get drafted in the late rounds. With a statue QB, expect many OL posts. "We working on dat OL", aquarium "Give 'em time to Gel", "We've had injuries", etc. Should Brian Kelly have kept Orgeron lone holdover OL coach, well traveled Brad Davis? Is it possible that there are better OL coaching candidates available? With paying players now, we don't need them to be recruiting guru type coaches, we need real OL coaches that can teach, imo. This was a bad Loss. Remember years ago when "BK" got to the NC & got whupped by Bama? The score was 42-14. We just lost to Josh Heupel 40-13. Josh Huepel took BK & LSU to the woodshed with the ease of Saban. How will we do against Louisiana Billy at Florida? https://www.google.com/amp/s/thespu...ing-crushed-for-lsus-performance-vs-tennessee
I'm not calling for Daniels to get benched, but Nussmeier is not a "statue white QB." He's not going to beat Daniels in a race, but he's very athletic and pretty fast for a QB. Not sure why that even matters, the OL hasn't been nearly as bad as some of y'all make out. The QB has had plenty of time to throw, more often than not. They/he has not done a good job of getting the protection right, though. Pressure came on blitzes and stunts when they messed up the protection. Maybe Nuss would be better at that, maybe not. And yeah, that falls on coaching. It looked like Goodwin was working himself into being that feature back until he got hurt. The rest of the guys just aren't elite. Hell, one is a walk-on. The roster is a long way away from where it needs to be. Everybody needs to relax. This team is pretty much exactly where most sane people thought they would be at this point.
Run blocking has been pretty bad, though, I'll give you that. I don't know if that's because we are giving something away and telegraphing run plays or what.
My problem with Daniel’s is he just isn’t seeing open guys fast enough. His internal clock is way off. We have open guys, he is just not getting them the ball. And before anyone talks about the Oline, that isn’t an excuse. After 2 games you need to understand where you targets are going to be when you have little to no time. Not saying he should be Burrow, but having that mindset is a big separator. For whatever reason, he just doesn’t see the field as he should IMO.
And that is where Nuss is way ahead of Daniels and he also has a much better arm. Sit Daniels down and live with the result. He will at least throw the ball and give the receiver a chance to make a play.
If he gets the ball away. Dellenger is out for at least the next two games and haven't heard anything about Campbell's availability yet. FU and OM will see a green QB and send the house at him every play. And yes, I realize that's what UT did to Daniels. I've lost all confidence in our offense, both personnel and coaching.
Hard not to, all of these folks saying "its a rebuild" and "this is about what we expected" agghhhh bullshit! This is infinity times worse than anything we expected. Just an all out shit show. My point is, we've seen what Daniels brings to the table and it is a turd. No one gives two shits about some (insert corporate sponser) bowl. If Kelly doesn't play Howard the last 3 games of the season it will be a damn shame.
we are playing with guys from mcneese…. the part I don’t get is this… why aren’t we leaning in more to what jd will do? Need more designated runs from him…
I have a feeling we will see that with JD, at least I hope so. Don't force him to do what he is not good at.
