It was tied at half 13 a piece. Oregon blowing it open in the 3rd quarter with a 70+ yard run and a 70+ yard interception return for TDs. Now Oregon 27 Tennessee 13
2 other quick scores by Oregon. This is now a laugher. Tenn. QB sucks worse than ours. Now 41 to 13 Oregon
Oregon is exposing that SEC/defensive conference myth. Someone say UT is down and let's see how many SEC teams hang 40+ on them.
I really want to bite, but I think you're right. I had to admit this a few years ago when Michigan beat Florida. Tennessee looked like trouble in the first half, but now looks beatable.
Tennessee is in a quagmire right now with all of the junk they've dealt with this past year. It was a close game (tied at half) then big plays galore and Oregon runs away with the game.
The difference between defenses in the SEC and the rest of the country can be answered, not by SEC homers but NFL scouts and coaches that have come outside the SEC to coach in the SEC. You hear the same things over and over. The size AND speed of defensive lineman and lb's are the difference. The speed at the skill positions I'd say are pretty equal. I've heard Bob Davey say it, Les Miles, Bill Curry, Lou Holtz, Mark May, Urban Meyer, Gary Kubiak, Desmond Howard and the list goes on. The SEC sports defensive fronts that other conferences do not. Does it mean that EVERY TIME an SEC defense lines up against an out of conference team and it doesn't totally dominate their offense it means its a "myth"? No! It just means for the most part, over the years the SEC defenses have been the difference between the conferences. But it's by no means a "myth".
Funny how the PAC10 has a winning record vs. SEC teams in the last 20+ games. And I say that in all sincerity cause there's no doubt in my mind the SEC is deeper, maybe we're just unlucky? I remember USC hanging 50 on Arkansas then 70 the following year when they were SECW champs.
Maybe the PAC 10 is truly the better conference. I don't know. I'm just going by what I've heard qualified people say about the major difference in the SEC and other conferences with respect to defenses.
