Yeah I did say that...So someone told me that and I posted. I was wrong...The person that told me was wrong. It's not like that has ever happened before. I mean, I am always right. Once isn't all that bad. What I want to know is what you think about Jimmy Johns and those stats that I posted. Is that not dual-threat enough for you? Also, we have signed some damn good OLmen and hopefull for Andre Smith's signature. Bama doesn't have to have a dual-threat QB in the future anyways... I think that we will do just fin without Tebow. Hey, it would have been a great thing, but life goes on, and so does recruiting and Alabama football.
This is an interesting development because Alabama passed on offering Chris Smelley a scholarship. Smelley has a quick release while Tebow hesitates much too often. Spurrier instinctively jumped on Smelley while Meyer is going to have to hope that Tebow improves his vision and release. I'm really glad that Stafford already has ties to Georgia. Makes it more settling to know that he is comfortable with his decision. And you have to wonder about a kid like Mustain. Any kid who woud go on statewide TV to commit, and then withdraws, has got to be a head case. I'm quite sure that Fulmer is all over this kid.
Although Smelley has awesome numbers and looks really good...I have seen him play in person twice. I am just not too sure of him. I mean, he played at a 1A school and you should see some of the players out there on the field for some of these teams. You have got like, 5'8'', 165lb linebackers and I am being generous with some of the teams Smelley has played against. The talent is there and there is good upside and I guess that's what offensive guru Spurrier sees in him. I wish the best of luck because he's from here in Tuscaloosa--except when he plays BAMA!
No offense but if if comes to between you and Spurrier, I will go with Spurrier's choice on QB. He jumped all over him which tells me he saw something right away in him. If you are a QB with a stitch a talent it certainly doesn't hurt you to play for Spurrier.
I didn't knock Johns. I haven't even seen him play. Shula, not me, says he wants a dual threat QB. Since you are in the know, tell me why Shula is now going balls out after another QB (multiple threat by the way) who is already commited to another school if you are in such good shape at QB and don't need another one right away?:wink:
Smelley would be at LSU if we hadn't had a commitment from Cate early. That screwed us out of his signature.
Hey Red Elephant.....still waiting on your answer to my post above as to why Shula is now after another QB after he lost Tebow.
