:milesmic:Great article about teams who are going to get luckier and teams that luck is running out.. I agree with the Les Miles statement. I believe Les Miles is a good coach if he would just stop making bonehead decisions... Rivals.com College Football - Teams walk fine line between winning, losing
Always interesting when someone mentions close wins but forgets close losses. I can buy the Miles gambling and Jefferson's uncertain status (star?, average?, bust?) but I don't hear much about close losses to Florida, Alabama, Ole Miss, Penn State or any comments regarding the favorable calls one team in particular received last year. I guess it sells magazines but I don't buy into much of the articles. With some many magazines, websites, etc. I guess somebody will get lucky occasionally and be correct in their analysis. LSU just needs to score! I haven't seen anything in JJ yet which suggests he can run/commmand/lead this offense effectively. I hope and pray he has matured and learned the game better as we can't afford to keep punting like we did last season. Maybe RS's move to WR will open the offense. If the running game gets going JJ should be fine and Miles will look less "boneheaded". If not...we're in trouble.
exactly. i saw that a lot through out that article. and is the original poster saying he agrees that lsu is headed downhill?
What exactly in a 9-win season is there that signals LSU to be "running out of luck"? Its just more of the Bammer mantra that everything LSU has accomplished is because they are "lucky". LSU finished #3 in the SEC last year, improving from the year before, and will be a better team this year. Bama and Florida will be strong and we play them both again . . . but neither will be a strong as last year.
Level-headed analysis and facts will not be tolerated here. I can't wait to see what the folks say when LSU lays the wood to UNC and is undefeated going into the Florida game. It all comes down to beating Florida and Alabama. We have to, at the worst, split those games this year. I rewatched the FL-LSU game last night. LSU actually played much better than I remembered, especially on defense. Also Danielson had some good comments regarding Jefferson, in parts. He recognized early on in the game when Jefferson was at a disadvantage and didn't dump on him at all, I thought. I think he said something like, "Jefferson is just not ready to handle this package. (Florida D alignment) Sam Bradford had problems with this package from Florida." LSU is not that far away.
My thoughts exactly. You guys can think the sky is falling if you want, I'll be enjoying the season. People keep saying Les Miles is on the hotseat? Really? Is he? Or is that just wishful thinking? The team looks poised for another 9-10 win season, and considering our current talent/experience level (2 of the top 3 receivers are sophomores, 1 of the top RBs is a RS FR, the other 2 have injury concerns, DL is young, etc.), that's good enough for me. It should be a team that is fun team to watch, more so than last year, and a pain in the ass to play against, also more so than last year. Can't ask for much more than that.
I don't believe that LSU's luck is running out. I do believe that our team has struggled over the past two years. What I was agreeing with is that if Les Miles doesn't improve this year, I believe that he could possibly be on his way out. I do believe that if everything comes together, we can play for a NC. I just want to see some of the bonehead mistakes eliminated i.e. Ole Miss of last year. :geauxtige
The key to Tigers' success will be finding a QB that can grasp the offense and not spend 20 seconds getting the play then having the coaches call his audibles from the sideline.
8 wins and 9 wins is disappointing, but did you really think we were going to win 11 games a season forever? "Struggling" is 6 or 7 wins to me. 9 wins and #3 is competitive in the tough upper tier of the SEC. We can't win them all. Nobody does. So . . . 10 wins or he's gone? Not likely. In a year where we will face 6 top-25 teams including 2 top-5 teams, 9 wins may be a damn good year of football. The wheels would have to come off entirely for Les to get fired this year. And so it is for every team in the top-25. But folks who expect that every season, will always be disappointed fans. I expect a nationally competitive team and we've had one for 10 years in a row. I'm a happy fan watching the best football in LSU history. Those that keep worrying about what the future might hold are going get ulcers and die young of stress. Roger that. I just aint about to eliminate consistent top-10 recruiting, 5 seasons averaging 10-wins, and trophies in the case to eliminate worry about one bad call that will likely never happen again.
