he's the best player in the world right now. the nuggets just run their team around iverson instead of him. the dude doesn't miss from anywhere. the 6-6 from the field exhibits that. dwight howard is an animal. it's amazing how much better the team is when he is in there, rather than Amare.
USA v Puerto Rico on now. I think the last time we played them was the game at the 2004 Olympics when PR beat the US by 20 points. Basically team USA owes PR and A** beating of epic proportion.
after playing piss-poor defense last night, i'd say Coach K told them a little something, being they have given up only 19 points through 16 mins so far.
Have they even been tested yet? I guess maybe Brazil was a test, but their best player, Barbossa, is only like the 4th best player on his NBA team. I know they have Argentina tomorrow, but I heard that they're missing some players. Not to minimize what they've done to this point, but the reason I ask is because in the '04 Olympics, they started out like gang busters against weaker competition, but then lost when playing the Argentinians and some of the better European teams. I'm just wondering if we have an accurate gauge of how good they really are. I do know that they're defense is 10x better than is was in '04 and that, plus perimeter shooting was the weakness of that team. We're much better in both categories now.
They have not been really challenged, but they have not really dominated against teams like this over the past 5-6 years. They lost to Puerto Rico in '04, too. For example, one of the major flaws had been their defense and 3 point shooting. So far, those have been strengths. Will it continue, who knows?
I still don't understand how there's about 4k people in the stands every night. I would be over there sitting right up close to see kobe, bron bron, et al play basketball on the same team. And this isn't all-star game playing, this is actually team play from these guys. I can't believe no one wants to see that. The tickets can't be that much.
yeah I don't get that either. If those games were in Baton Rouge I'd be all over it. I'd love to see the NBA play a few preseason games with international rules. The int games are so much faster than the typical NBA games. I find them a lot more entertaining.
