We may need to prepare ourselves. TCU is not that good. LSU: 9 rotating DL to 3 this year. 11 juniors leaving will hurt. Mettenberg needs to start throwing allot more. We are way over hyped.

Arkansas State just beat Troy. So much for UAB.

To TCU's credit, they were missing their better QB last night. .. and the officiating was pathetic.

Chauk another failure up to "running QBs". If a QB can't pass ... it's hard to win. Boykin should have stayed at RB where he came from. But then ... Pahlhal [sp] broke his arm. I think I would have tried the third string guy or something, because TCU's offense sucked last night.

Boykin and Jefferson are proof that even a shitty read option QB can be moderately productive against a good team that isn't prepared for it. Against a team like Texas Tech, whose head coach knows a thing or two about this style of offense, you better bring it or look like garbage. Besides, TCU was a preseason projection to lose against Tech anyway.

TCU looked bad last night, without a doubt. And the officiating was straight-up crooked, robbing TCU of one scoring opportunity in the redzone and one touchdown.

Of course, losing 11 starters who are now playing in the NFL hurt us on defense. We are young and inexperienced, and we are cutting our teeth on weaker competition right now.

Mett should throw a lot more? Why? If we are insecure about our defense, we want to also work on ball control by running, too. If we throw a lot more, our defense will have shorter rests between series and be on the field more. I think the mix we're going with right now is pretty good.

So, what? They're a well-coached team from a major conference, and we dominated them in the stat lines. A fumble deep in our own territory and a KO return were the only things that kept the game even somewhat close. It was also the first game of the season with a revamped offense and many new starters on defense. Also, we won.

This was everyones concern heading into the season, but it isn't like we've been recruiting slouches at the vacated positions. We've got one of the best defensive minds in the business coaching them, and I'm confident that they'll continue to improve.

He's already thrown half as many TD passes this year as he did all of last year. If anything, we need to start running the ball more.

Really? Ok, then name 8 teams that are much better than us, based on their performances to date.

What do you mean, "so much for UAB"? Did you think we were supposed to do anything but dominate them? Mettenberger probably looks worse in practice than he did in that game. Dude barely broke a sweat. Sure, the defense looked sloppy for one quarter, but I posit that we are lucky to have had that lapse. It gives the coaches something to work on before the schedule really gets tough.

When are people going to understand that the transitive property does not work in football? A week 1 team can often be very different from a week 3, 8, or 10 team. TCU prepared for us all summer long. They had their starting QB (who is a damn stud) and a secondary that covered our receivers very, very well. It was a great win for us, and I'm not going to let any half-baked illusions about their subsequent performances dictate otherwise.

Mettenberger is #2 nationally in pass efficiency. We have a balanced offense and are right where we need to be right now.

The over/under on this game was 62.5 points. The next time someone tries to run some bullshit about how the Vegas oddsmakers are paid to know, you can laugh at it. They aren't any better at predicting the outcome of a game than most of us here. What they are good at, is drawing a line and getting a fairly equal number of bets on both sides of that line.

I saw our run game needs to be our bread and butter as much as I want to throw the ball with Metts. Burn clock with the run game if at all possible. We can't have our D on the field as much as it was last year.

TCU did get robbed. The dropped ball before crossing the goal line, TT fumble that wasn't called a fumble.
Boykin was not 100% and wasn't stepping into throws but he is not good passing QB. They ran the ball well at the end but TT ate up 2 mins scoring after the goal line ball drop deal....so TCU had to throw and didn't have time to run. TCU did no favors for LSU last night.

I don't get why people look at games like this and make a judgement.

I mean, being and LSU fan and beating a 2012 Auburn team by 2 and beating ATM by more should tell you everything you need to know about reading to much into things.
