I meant to an AQ conference but didn't I read something earlier about the MWC getting a bid possibly? I don't remember. Get these two sideshows out the way is the point, make them play something that resembles competition on a weekly basis and if they survive then so be it.
Of all the conferences TCU could have gone to, I think this one is the worst choice for them. It is more of an upgrade for the Big East than it is for TCU. Although they will probably dominate the Big East, unless the Big East can do something to improve its competiveness TCU will continue to not be in the MNC picture. They will get an automatic BCS bid, but unless they schedule some big OOC games they will suffer the same as the Big East already does when it comes to being considered for the MNC. I would argue that an undefeated TCU in the Big East would rank lower than any other undefeated teams from some of the other AQ conferences, with the exception of maybe the ACC. Hell I would argue that an undefeated TCU from the MWC would rank higher than an undefeated TCU from the Big East. In order for TCU to truly benefit from this move the Big East has got to upgrade itself, and TCU alone can’t do that. An example of this is Miss St and Az with 4 losses are ranked higher than a WVU with 3 losses.
Thing is...an undefeated Big East team is very likely to remain ahead of any one loss team from the major conferences (including the SEC). This is the hurdle that the frogs have been faced with the last couple of seasons. And I believe they can run the Big East...soooo, problem solved for them.
That maybe, but when records are equal they will be behind almost all other conferences. Problem not solved. As I pointed out a 1 loss TCU in the MWC would probably be even ranked higher than a 1 loss Big East. Look at this yrs rankings there are teams with more losses than some Big East teams, yet they are ranked higher. Example Miss St and WVU. Problem not solved. I know what you are saying, but add this to the equation as well. Being part of the Big East TCU will play more BCS OOC games, compile that with the week in week out play of the Big East (which is tougher than the MWC, although not by much), TCU due to a tougher schedule now may start to run into some of the very same issues the tougher conference teams do. That is the toughness of playing tougher games week in and week out. Bottom line is they maynot run the tables with that type of scheduling. A 1 loss TCU that is part of the Big East would possibly eliminate them from any discussion of the BCS, unless they win their own conference. If all they want to do is get into BCS games, then mission accomplished. If they are looking to get to the BCSNCG, mission not accomplished.
