I went to the Oregon game in the nose bleeds and had a blast. Given that I live an easy 3 hr drive up I-45 and have heard that tickets should be available for fairly cheap outside the stadium just before kickoff, I'm guessing that I'll make the trip although that may depend on if any friends show interest in going.
I was at the Oregon game also, 6 rows from the field, great seats. There were some tickets available before the game, I had two extra. We also picked up some at will call. Best of luck.
I am curious what makes you believe they will be "cheap"? In checking Dallas Craigslist tonight and only tickets for sale by owners not brokers, I see a very few 400 level seats going for $85.00 each. The face value in the 400 level was $70.00 and that is the cheapest seats. When Cowboy season ticket holders were allowed to go back and buy 400 level, Ticketmaster sold out pretty quick. In checking Ticketmaster they show no seats available when asking for 2 or 4 together. Stub Hub shows lots of seats that are "cheap" in the 400 level. The LSU alum association just about doubled the price for the 400 level for their "own" people, the DFW and FW alums. Prices are slightly higher for the LSU side in the 400 level vs TCU side. It appears most of the 300 and below levels are still at a minimum of 2 times the face value. As for Oregon, I saw rows of seats on the lower level that went unused mostly because people were trying to get upwards of $1000.00 per seat for the first game of the year!
The stadium seats 80K, 2010 the avg. Dallas Cowboy game was 87,047. The Oregon/ LSU game attendance was 87,711. So at least 7,711 SRO? I didn't see many empty seats in the lower area where I was.
Picked up my tickets from an LSU alum in Tulsa for $75 each. Not sure where they will be but they are inside. Hell with that damn mega tron screen it doesn't really matter. I'd bet that if you really wanted to gamble the price of tickets goes down the closer you get to kickoff. Wait till it kicks and you can probably score for less than face.
I don't doubt that tickets are grossly overpriced currently. I expected the Oregon game to be a hot ticket because of it being the opener, the LSU fanbase in Dallas, and the novelty of Jerry World. Later, I heard (or read) quite a few stories of people buying tickets shortly before kickoff for $10-20 just outside the stadium. I've heard that TCU does not have that large of a fanbase and some LSU fans have the "been there, done that" attitude about Jerry World. I'm not sure that I would expect to find a $20 ticket but perhaps $50. If that doesn't work, I'm familiar with the area now and there are bars within walking distance that would be fun to watch the game.
My BiL just sold two tickets to the game. They were 150 face each and he sold them for 300 each. They were tickets he had gotten through his brother who is a cowgirls season ticket holder.
