However, he is not hiring an agent. He would have to pull his name out 10 days before the draft if he decides to return. Draft is on June 25th. http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?&ATCLID=3714834&DB_OEM_ID=5200
I dont know what his true intentions are but all decent juniors should get an NBA review. Smart move.
Makes sense if he keeps all options open. I still think he can increase his NBA potential by returning for a senior season. CTJ will ask him to do things next year that can only make him a more well-rounded player.
I agree with this and what TB said. Declaring basically gives you free access to all the scouts, so you can hear 1st-hand what you need to work on, etc... But if he really thinks he'd be making the wise move going out then . . . goodluck to him with that, because he'd be a very late 2nd round pick.
Yeah I dont think there is any chance he leaves unless he just wants to move on with his life. At this point it's going to take a minor miracle for him to even be a first rounder next year.
Definitely what he probably is doing and agree its a very smart move its getting free coaching to make him a better player.
Obviously, as a fan I'd like to see Tas' stay. Plus with CTJ and staff at the helm, you have a little bit more confidence that Tas' could improve under CTJ's tutelage. But, to be devil's advocate, if this is true, why stay, if your heart is in the NBA? That's really the question, what does Tas' really want out of next year? The guy's a 4 year junior who's 4 classes away from graduating, it's not like he's Glen Davis or Brandon Bass who may have left early. So, I'll support Tas' in whatever he wants to do, like others have said. Clearly, this is the year to "test the waters" and get the free scouting, advice and practice time. I do think that coming back offers him almost a Tyler Hansborough type opportunity though, although clearly LSU won't be playing for a NC. It's more the opportunity to go down as one of the greatest players (in terms of longevity, impact over 4 years, etc.) for LSU. That'll be something worth far more 20-30 years from now, than a year earlier in the NBDL or Europe. I also think that overall, Tas' is a decent outside shooter--he proved that in his first few years at small forward. Can he lose 15 pounds or so, get quicker, and defend a 3? I believe he can. Will he be on more college "watch lists" next year? Yes. So, overall, this is a smart decision to see how things play out. I lean towards him staying.
