This team has a solid starting rotation (no weak link in the starting 5) and a very good bullpen (Howell and Wheeler form the best setup tandem in baseball right now), especially when Percy gets back off the DL. Offensively they are solid. The only area they need improvement is their cleanup hitter Carlos Pena's power production. He's on pace for 22 homers and 85 RBIs. Last year he ended at 46 and 121, respectively.
It's all clicking right now, but they have to stay injury free and the pitchers have to maintain their dominance. Let's see how they survive the dog days of august and the stress of a pennant drive in September.
Plus they'll add David Price before the year's over. Kazmir, Shields, Price could be a nasty october rotation.
I like Tropicana Field. I cant wait for the playoffs when some batter is up there and hits a shot, only to hit the walkway and fall into play - thus costing them the game, series, and their manager. Should be awesome.
Made it a tough series for me. Do I pull for the team my team is chasing, or the team I loathe more than anyone not named Auburn?
