According to rivals we already have 6 guys who are 6-5 or better in this recruiting class. With several slots left we could ultimately end up with even more. Last year's class had 5 guys 6-5 or better and the previous 2 classes before that weren't even close to comparing. I know recruiting our share of OL this year has amped up the height of the class, but I think we are definitely getting taller and ultimately, once they fill out, bigger guys. Big Herman does not fit the mold of a OG, most would look at his size and put him at tackle, but he has been impressive at guard. The next guy to step in the OL next year seems to be Jarvis Jones, who is 6-6 or better. I think we are going with bigger guys if they are quick enough to get the job done. Thoughts?
Possibly the fact that we ARE getting the bigger lineman like you point out, is the reason we are going after taller QB's and NOT the Mackey's of the world... Just a thought...
good point AB, could you see a 5' 9" Todd Reesing trying to throw over an O-line averaging 6" 6" in height? wouldn't work out too well.
