Ok I’ve seen enough. Hope E retires. I have no clue what Linehan is actually doing so I can’t give an answer on him. Bo has to go.
He's a stud. Great recruiter. O coached him at USC then brought him on as a grad assistant like he did with Christian LaCouture.. Ryan Nielsen was in line to maybe come be our DL coach before the Saints called. His lines at NC ST were amazing and had tons of his dudes drafted highly like Bradley Chubb. Think he's gonna get some DC looks in the league. Could be a stud college head coach in time.
Did you mean to include the head 'tard O, or are you just not serious at all about winning football? Talk you out of firing? How about talking deportation from the LSU boundaries, with campus security & BRPD if necessary? Complete with their bumper sticker sayings & all the stupidity they brought in. You can keep putting Band-Aids & Bactine on huge, gaping wounds, but eventually the now gangrenous infected limbs have to be removed, to keep the patient (LSU Football) alive.
Maybe. I do think that O can be a winner surrounded by the right staff. But if he goes into battle next year with these bozos, he can leave too.
In my way of thinking, O has another year. He did it once, hopefully, he can do it again. He changed the culture last year. LSU played Saban’s usual NFL team last night, and it was worse than we thought. My response to my wife about how LSU did was. “Well, They didn’t shut us out.” I am willing to give O another shot. But, if this staff P, E, and L stay on, none of the benefit of the doubt applies. This is a young team, “someone” has to get them coached up. Pelini is making millions. What a travesty.
at a minimum e should bow out and retire or shown the door and pelini and gregg need to pack as well. edited to add linehan as well
I absolutely agree with your assessment. You don't fire a coach just one year after winning a national championship. That said, he MUST make coaching changes. Pelini, Ensminger, and Linehan all have to go. It is clear that younger and more creative coaches are needed at the coordinator positions. If 2021 turns out to be a repeat of 2020, then you have to evaluate whether O is the man to lead this team going forward. Given everything that has occurred this year (major attrition due to players going to the NFL, COVID and related opt-outs, Aranda and Brady leaving, the difficulty in replacing a once in a generation QB like Burrow, Brennan's injury and having to start true freshmen at QB), I am willing to cut O some slack. Sure, other teams have had to deal with the same or similar issues this year; however, what hit LSU in 2020 can be described as a murphy's law perfect storm of all that can and did go wrong. I believe we will see major improvement from this team next year.
Learned two things in B-School 1. You either eat well or you sleep well 2. Slow to hire, fast to fire! And there you have it.
Don’t forget Cregg. If O doesn’t make any changes and we suck next year, roll out the guillotine. Hire two coordinators and let them bring in their guys. Who should stay is the better question IMO. I think O screws this up by being too loyal.
Spot on. The whole defensive staff, excluding Raymond, needs to go. Linehan and Cregg need to go. Ensminger needs to be "encouraged" to retire, though I suspect he would willingly take a demotion to tight ends coach. We need young innovative minds in charge on both sides of the ball, and even more importantly, coaches who can relate to these players at a personal level and make them want to commit to LSU, not just see the team as a means to the NFL. The difference between us and Bama has become the difference between wanting to move on and wanting to stay for one more shot at a championship. The philosophy of Travis Daniels ("I play for the name on the side of my helmet, not the one on the back of my jersey") has been completely lost at LSU, and if we don't get it back, our list of players sent to the NFL will be all we have to be proud about.
