I would. We can't score too many points against Petrino. Hell, not only would I try to score, I might even go for 2.

Taking a knee four consecutive time reminded me of an intentional walk in baseball. At least in baseball there is a strategic reason for it. Setting up a doubleplay or simply playing the percentages to face the next hitter in the line-up. But taking a knee with five minutes remaining? So you run a couple minutes off the clock and turn the ball over on downs and still there is more football to be played. The kneel down is designed to run the clock "OUT" not take time off the clock. A great tool when used appropriately. It was a missed opportunity to run a goal line play and score. I would rather see what Les dials up from the one yard line than a kneel down. I hope we don't need a goal line play to win a game in the last three games. But if we do I would have liked to see us get the reps in now while it does'nt have any bearing on the outcome.

    Shirley you can't be serious...

We ran for over 350 yds last night, with no single back over 100 yds. What should we have done? Put in Alleman at TB to practice HIM running it in? Mo Isom? One of the female cheerleaders?

We needed extra reps running the ball last night???

Bottom line: This thread was started--and got 5 pages of responses--because the series was peculiar! It resonated with us here on the boards because it was unusual--you will, essentially, never see that again-- and (if you are like me) it gave you an uneasy feeling. Sorry, but I did not get the sense that it was a classy & gracious move by a superior team/coach to a beaten foe. It did not feel that pure. Whether CLM was playing mind games with the Nutt, I don't have the psych degree to go there, but as an intelligent observer of the 'Game of Football,' the multiple knee series was a bit too 'off' for me to be able to cheer. This did not feel like Maximus allowing an heroic, beaten gladiator to keep his life.

There were other ways to not score again.

    Too strange!

Add it to the lore of Les Miles!

If Les really wanted to be nice, he should have had the ball snapped over Mett's head so Ole Miss could get the ball on the 20 instead of the 1. But I like the strategy....pin 'em back.

I think there are several reasons behind the knee.
    1) why risk one of our o-linemen or running backs getting injured ? Mett couldve been hurt on the bootleg. Why risk an injury when the game is at hand ?
    2) miles told mett what to do. Mett disobeyed miles direct intention so miles gave him no chance of doing it again. Miles was wanting to burn time not score.
    3) miles hates teams that run up scores on other teams. He was trying to be honorable
    4) miles was showing the world how good this team is and the clock thing of a few years ago is dead in the past

Not me, but I'm thinking the Hogs actually show up and play some ball.

Not sure if any of you saw the "Mo vs Brad Wing" segment, but considering Wing can punt backwards...accurately, maybe he should've been called in on 4th down to give OM better field position.
