I'm not sure how I felt about it, either. Personally, I would've run the ball and scored, but I love to beat the crap outta opponents. But in it's own way, this was even worse than beating the crap outta Ole Miss. I was on the phone with my mom, and she said, "Maybe Miles is just trying to be nice." She thought about it for a second, then changed her mind, "Or maybe Miles is telling Nutt to kiss his @$$."
Thank you! I couldn't for the life of me figure out why so many were criticizing Mett running in for a TD. I just chocked it up to these boys fight over Lee and Jefferson.
Les has class, something many times not seen in college, high school and Pro coaching these days. He was trying to hold down the score, most every player that was brought played. A W/O center and W/O DT played. Backups and 3rd. teamers, we played our 5th. running back. :tigereye:
it shows class in the old school sort of way that it miles. i told green at half time i didnt know what clm was gonna do to keep from going over 50 in the second half short of taking a knee all of the 4th qtr. face it, it is rare for miles to let a team score 50+. but normally the rest of cfb doesnt see that. they just see other teams scoring gaudy points just to run up the score. they overlook that miles clears the benches and goes ultra-conservative on playcalling so he doesnt embarrass the cupcakes. but last night by taking a knee four times, the rest of cfb saw that we can, we just dont. i didnt watch espin after, but i heard they showed it a lot. think of it as another message if needed. kinda like "unbeaten in regulation".
Nutt was quoted as saying that it was embarrassing, but that Les was just a nice guy trying not to rub it in and he appreciated the thought. It was pretty overt, though. Les might have done better by running the ball inside four times and covertly telling his linemen to block poorly and his backs not to score. Give Ole Miss a goal line stand instead of embarassing them on the field.
THIS. There was way too much time on the clock for that. Hand it off. Run the plays. Get ultra conservative if you want but kneeling with 5 min left is a slap in the face.......BUT....maybe les tried that on the previous drive. On that drive I think we ran 14-15 plays and only one was a pass. Maybe Les just said enough is enough. They arent even gonna try to stop us so we will shut it down. Many fans may not like it but Les does have his code it seems. Les will be all class till the day he dies. I'll take it.:milesmic:
lol...If we are kneeling the ball with 5 minutes left in ANY game, it can mean nothing but good things
