Metts's run was a TD (and a beautiful play at that). As far as Les kneeling to give them the ball back, I was kind of confused as to how to feel about it. But after thinking about it and having several shots of various liquors, I think he did it out of class. As was said earlier, damned if you do, damned if you don't. That's the first time I've ever seen that in a game though. The man is trying to be all class... If the rest of the country can't see it that way then phuck 'em..
As the announcers stated....it's a real slap in the face to Ole Miss to kneel down with 5 minutes to go. I thought it was kind of humorous.
My Knee Jerk Reaction I hope that the premature kneeling down last night provokes a rule change by the NCAA. Something to this effect... 1. It is permissable to kneel down on the ball inside the last two minutes of each half. When the end result of the action will cause that half of football to end. 2. The act of kneeling down on the ball outside of the last two minutes of each half will be considered egregious taunting and result in a 15 yd penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct and loss of down. If CLM was in fact disciplining Mett for running the bootleg as has been suggested then the appropriate place to take corrective action was not during the field of play. Thank goodness the Vegas over/under was 50 points and therefore had no bearing on the outcome. That would have opened up a whole new can of worms for the "Conspiracy Theorists".
The thread titled "taking a knee" wasn't enough. I'm glad there's two now to discuss this over pussed topic.
LSU is 11-0 and this is the topic you decide to start a thread on? Some people will NEVER be happy. If we had scored, you'd be saying how "classless" it was to run up the score. You sir(or ma'am) are rediculous.
I definitely did not see it as a slap in the face, but rather a class act after he was pissed that a player individually tried to run up the score. He wasn't planning on taking a knee with 5 minutes left, he simply reacted to Metts play. Had Mett not done that, we would have simply run the ball and try to eat up clock. If a RB broke through and ran it for a TD, then that is not the same as a naked bootleg for a TD, circumstantially. Personally, I like this about Miles. He has class and shows respect in all aspects of his coaching no matter how much pressure is placed. He has done this with his asst. coaches and toward opposing coaches, when appropriate. Why rub it in when "victory is in hand"?
I think that knee of yours could benefit from some more effetive self-control. Most other coaches would've run regular plays and scored. So what? Why hang Les for a judgment call that didn't impact the outcome of the game?
