we arent going to get a qb better than the ones we have. this will now leave us with three/four qb's in back-to-back-back classes assuming one plays next year, which one could. lee -jr jefferson - jr/rsoph shep - soph/rfresh garrett - rfresh that is ideal and no need to add to it when we can be selective for the next few years on top guys because of our talented young guys. i know the coaches like to take one every year but i wouldnt be surprised if we didnt take one next year assuming none of those guys are busts and we cant get a top guy, or dual athlete.
I agree. As it currently stands, no more QBs in 2009. Unless - MAYBE - the coaches convince Shep to sign knowing they will make him a WR, not a QB. I'm not sure Shep would sign under those conditions, but what if. Then, MAYBE, there's a case to be made for another QB. Which means we'd still only be taking two "QBs". Or, since RR is playing QB this year, maybe HE's your third QB, MasterMind?!
RS has said before he is coming here to compete for the QB spot from day one. He has also said he wants to do whatever it takes to help LSU win if he is needed at another position. I do not think he will play any other position except QB and will be used in a few wrinkles here and there to get him into open space. I have a feeling Crowton is going to have fun with this kid.
Ok State's 3rd string QB who has a yellow streak right down his back, afraid of competition when Tim Tebow is clearly 6,635 times the QB Cate is. No thanks, I'll take an untalented competitor over a more talented person who is scared to compete for his job.
Not sure about '04, but in '06 we had the QB that ended up signing with Oklahoma St committed (Alex Cate I believe) & we essentially let him go. We just didn't need a QB in that class. Of course we did not know that RP was going to get kicked off the team.
Russell Shepard is being brought in as a Quarterback. Sure, it may not work out, but every intention at this point is to keep him there & develop him into a complete QB. Two very, very good QBs for this class is plenty. The would be no point in bringing in 3 QBs in the same class.
That was my point early on in this thread, hindsight says we should have recruited a highly touted QB in 06.
