Will T-twice actually live up to his recruiting hype this year? I'm of two minds on this one. On the one hand, he's had two modest seasons and hasn't exactly turned my head with blocking and post-reception yardage (except for one 71 yarder against La Tech in his freshman year). Whether genetics or his own choices, he is still pretty slight for a 6'5" wideout, although he has gotten a bit bigger. This part of my mind just thinks he's, physically, not ready to break out in big time college football. On the other hand, B. Lafell really turned it on in his Jr. year. And Toliver has had to live in a stable of talent that included Doucet until last year. So, being generous, I'm thinking this could very well be his season. Plus, there's the Randle factor. I think RR is going to be so good that Toliver will step his game up just to make sure he's getting the touches he needs to secure a spot at the next level. I think, in this way, Randle could very well be Toliver's best influence. I don't have a prediction. But it'd be nice to see Toliver get 500 yards this year and break a couple of long ones. It'd also be nice to see him lay some good blocks on the outside. Thoughts?
We'll know this year. Up until this year, TT really hasn't had enough chances to develop his skills and timing playing behind so much other veteran talent. As of right now he's the #2 and the team is depending on him. Hopefully he'll rise to the challenge.
Pretty much says it Bandit. Came in touted, shown a glimmer here and there, needed to mature physically, we need him to step up this year, its his time, we'll see, hoping he comes through big time.
Good comparison to Lafell's development. I think we all were on the verge of throwing in the towel halfway through Lafell's sophomore campaign. He had all those drops. Then the light came on. I think we will see the same for Toliver. He has the ability to be quite spectacular.
Really, who hasn't that been true for? Michael Clayton has been the only guy in recent memory to explode as a freshman. Bowe, Davis, Doucet, and LaFell all took until their junior seasons to really blossom. I expect the same out of Tolliver.
I posted this in another thread, but think it relevant here also: TT Closed out the year pretty solidly last year. He's one of JJ's favorite targets. Bama - 3 receptions for 34 yards. Troy - 4 for 54 Ole Piss - 5 for 35 ArKansas - 2 for 16 Ga Tech - 2 for 17 Terrance Toliver Stats, News, Photos - LSU Tigers - NCAA College Football - ESPN With the exception of the Troy game, these are comparable to LaFell's stats to close out the season: Bama - 4 for 74 Troy - 12 for 126 Ole Miss - 4 for 82 ArKansas - 2 for 49 GaTech - 2 for 26 Brandon LaFell Stats, News, Photos - LSU Tigers - NCAA College Football - ESPN He got his hands on the ball almost as much as LaFell...which tells me he's just about as good at getting open. This is his breakout year...much like LaFell's was last year.
