From today's Advocate: http://theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/3727351-123/freshman-experience-helped-lsu-tiger Encouraging to say the least, especially if Raymond is that good a teacher, given all the young DB talent. But I wonder: Is Raymond a much better coach than Cooper? Is Simon a much more motivated student this year? Or is it a combination of various things?
I wouldn't say better. Sometimes players connect better with certain coaches. Also, he could be in a better place mentally that allows him to be receptive to coaching. Whatever the reason, it's good to hear.
I felt Patrick Peterson played mostly on ability at LSU and lacked real refined technique. Mo had better technique though so it's hard to say that was a coaching issue or not. Still, teams with an accurate quarterback and very good route runners gave us fits last year and that points to technique given the athletes we have at DB. Raymond may simply focus more on his guy's technique than Cooper did or simply teach it differently that gets the guys to grasp the concepts better.
There is a reason I could never take this dudes position from him at NISH. Or it could be that I was small, white, and slow.
Thanks for the replies and perspective. I should have used a better word than "better." And I will try to do better next time.
funny, I don't remember any short, white corners... Sam was short but wasn't slow and wasn't white..haha
No, Sam was one of the blackest dudes I have ever met and the reason you don't remember any short white corners is well that. Couldn't beat out Corey or Sam
Sometimes kids relate to some coaches better than others. It could be whats taught off the field. Its taught in classrooms, meetings, film room, etc. This could be Simons Money year. Everyone got a clean slate with Raymond coming in. Gonna be a fun year
