while people are being upset that the SCOTUS said a state can limit a church's maximum capacity to congregate, thousands of people are gathering across large cities, shoulder to shoulder, to protest and vandalize without any restriction.

    Isn't it ironic.

one infected person yelling "I can't breathe" over and over, in the middle of a protest crowd, is going to hurl viral particles everywhere. But hey, their right to assemble is protected by one of the amendments.

I mean, if it’s safety, the 2nd is in real danger.

So your first paragraph has merit. Churches should be provided the same gathering size limits as every other entity
However your second paragraph is just wrong. Churches already have and abided by limits on the number of people allowed in any of their buildings including consecrated buildings. So if they’re limited in normal times then applying rules established for the virus to them is nothing different or new.
Finally no right is unlimited or absolute. Hell you were just arguing that publishers, Twitter etc can have limits placed on them and they weren’t protected by the first amendment. So what if a bunch of indians revived the Aztec religion, are you good with human sacrifice? How does that square with your idea of an unlimited right?

Do you understand that the 2nd has always had limits placed on private ownership? When’s the last time you saw a fully functioning tank roll down the interstate driven by a private citizen, or a private pilot fly his fully armed F-15?
Again EVERY RIGHT has limitations and isn’t absolute.

I am now wondering (hoping) if all of the riots will usher in fewer restrictions and signal the end of the coronavirus panic.

I am not seeing the outrage in media about the gatherings like I saw about people partying at Lake of the Ozarks last weekend.
