How about win your conference, be in the conversation for championship contention, still get a BCS bowl? Sounds like a decent season.

View OU last year with a redshirt Fresh QB. Put a talented enough guy behind center and surround him with even more talent and anything can happen. I won't write us in as being there but I like our chances.

This thread is music to my ears...

The chatter really starts when it's hot outside.
People start looking for weakness on the team.
Then other people deny there's any weakness.
Then someone lashes out at someone for wearing purple and gold glasses.
Then someone lashes back at someone for being so damned pessimistic.
Then a lengthy argument starts on who is and isn't a true Tiger fan.

Then... just when people are ready to get their crew together to meet up in a parking lot somewhere and settle it all.... they do.... 150,000+ of them.

They then proceed to get drunk and kick the crap out of the poor team that shows up to play against us for the first game.

    "..Must be Football season.."

I love the belief that "No way this year's defense is gonna be better than last year".

So what if Dorsey is gone! Alexander is back! And he's on nobody's radar.

Last year, look at all the ground yards we gave up, especially later in the year after injuries took out Alexander and Dorsey played on a half-full tank. This year, the Defense could be a lot better than last year, because Alexander will be back full steam. This year's unit will give up far less yards rushing and overall fewer yards than last year.

This year's defense will be a dominating run-stopper in Smash-mouth SEC FB with Alexander back.

And, most of the bad boy RBs are gone.

The biggest challenge against our run defense will be Georgia. No-Show will come to Tiger Stadium with all the hype, and we'll watch as Alexander & company eat him alive.

This type of dominating defense will take the pressure off the QBs to produce big plays, and they can play T.O.P. clock management FB like the :milesmic: loves to do.

Don't forget that Pittman and RJF will get a chance to play a full season. The question lies with our CB and if they will limit the passing yards because it is going to be hard to run against the dline.

I think there is a better chance that RJF replaces Dorsey in every way, than Alexander comes back at full steam. I don't remember what kind of injury Alexander had, but sometimes (Broussard, Justin Vincent), they just don't get back all they way, or it may take 2 years. You just never can tell. I hope the man does come back full steam, but there's no guarantee. I think he will help a lot if he does come all the way back this season.

I don't want to sound pessimistic, and trying to be realistic. I hope you're right, but not betting on it.

I believe that Alexander had a torn ACL, like Broussard and Vincent. I have noticed that RB's seem to have a harder time coming back from those than other positions do. I'm being optimistic here, though, because I was a cheerleader and couldn't come back from my torn ACL (of course, surgical methods are much improved since the mid 80's.)
