In order to get the Superbowl the State and the Saints need to work out a long term deal. The current deal/lease agreement expires after the 2010 season.
While I'm sure that NO will get another Superbowl. This is just more posturing by the organization to have some leverage in the negotiation talks. Last week the news reports that the state doesn't have enough $$ to make payments to the Saints and the Hornets. So this week the organization puts out a "reminder" of why the state needs the organization. They go through this every other year if not every year.
