Or maybe Brady's hire was actually an assignment.....Burrow gets a free year learning and actually running the Saints' passing game. Saints take him next year and he has a head start on preparing to be next man up.
Burrow's performance curve looks a lot like Mettenberger's; promise, but inconsistency for the early part of his first year, improvement shown at the close of the season, and then a huge burst in his second year. I agree that Brady and E both get credit for their work, but what's been understated is the work Brady's done with the receivers. Same guys last year would have dropped a few that might have cost us the game. But back to Burrow, don't underestimate the motivation of playing your last season. These guys spend a few years looking up to the older guys, but then comes the mental impact of walking onto the practice field in the spring and thinking,"hey, I'm that older guy now. Everyone's depending on me." Gamers relish that challenge, and Burrow is definitely a gamer.
Joe Burrow National Ranks: - TDs: 1st (9) - NFL Rating Under Pressure: 1st (158.3, perfect) - Passer Rating: 2nd (219.11) - Adjusted Completion %: 2nd (87.9) - Completion %: 3rd (81.8) - Yards Per Game: 5th (374.5) - Deep (20+ yards) NFL Rating (NFL): 6th (149.3)
That makes me nervous too, but.....Burrow is mobile, whereas Mett was a statue. Also, this offense is much better at getting the ball out in a hurry.
Same guys last year were inexperienced and didnt have a lot timeto get in sinc with their new QB. I think that us part of the difference in the play of our WR's.
