"The Pick: LSU (+4) at Florida
On paper, Florida should be better this year than in ’07, while LSU shouldn’t be:

Yet it’s the Tigers who have looked like the stronger and more confident team this year,

I’m picking the Tigers to not only beat the four-point spread but also to pull the straight upset. "

I've seen some predictions for this game that favor Florida by 2 tds or more. I don't agree of course but I guess we will see tonight.

With the speed Florida has in its wide receiver corps, LSU will have to use the zone more than man-to-man. This has me very worried. It is too easy for receivers to find the seam in the zone. I hope LSU has an effective defensive game plan - perhaps with a heavy emphasis on the blitz. The only way we will establish an effective pass defense is by putting more pressure on Tebow than he can handle, and maybe getting in some sacks. We need to shake up his confidence and that will be a tall order. If we don't do that, it will be a long night for the Tigers. I have said from the start that Florida will be one of the two games LSU loses this year - the other being Georgia. I pick Florida by 6. Field goals may be the difference in this game. Needless to say, I hope I am wrong on this one.

I think it's going to be a long night for Florida. We'll give up some yards, but we should be able to outscore them without much trouble. AR-Kansas passed almost at will and ran the ball pretty effectively against an emotionally wounded Gators defense. I say we'll give up three big plays. Two will go for touchdowns, the other a field goal. Other than that, the defense will hold and the LSU offense will do what it has shown it can do against two of the best defenses in the SEC.
