StaceyO: On point, Randy70's thread, "Good Les Miles story in NY Times," had this quote which is well worth remembering in any discussion on CLM: "Then we talked about the differences between Miles and Saban. My friend made an interesting point, something I had never really considered. “With Saban as your coach, winning sometimes isn’t even fun,” he said. “The goal of Saban is not to have fun, it’s just to win. With Les, it’s always kind of fun and lighthearted, even if you lose. When you go to a football game you’re paying money to watch people play with a ball. You get your money’s worth with Les.” "
One more vote against the prevent. I cant believe the gulf between the professionals that call this stuff and what semi-knowledgable fans think. Those guys obviously are pros at what they do. Damn! I am afraid that the weak D will take its toll on offense, by keeping our O off the field.. Let me just say I fear we are going to lose many more games than many of us expected when this year started. And the O is so freakin good!
No, we won't. We just faced one of the best offenses we'll meet (much more sound than A & M, actually), and we lost on the road by 3. Our offense will save us the way our defense has had to do in the past.
I don't know, your post made me do a little research. And what I found out is that the teams who have not had to play their back up due to injury or suspension and haven't had to try a different qb because of bad play do not play their backups. UGA has a senior qb and they haven't had another qb throw a pass yet. Bama has a senior qb but his back up has thrown 2 passes this year. Stanford the same thing. So on and so as, coaches just don't give the back ups much time.
not sure I agree with this ... I mean they had to punt once. Unless he was going to trot out on defense and get a pick 6 or something how was he going to make it worse.
I am going to go a step further and say I honestly do not think our defense is as bad as it played in GA. I believe some changes and adjustments are coming this week and we will see improvements against Mississippi.
Based on what I watched Saturday, the NCAA has determined that pass intereference is no longer against the rules. At least both teams got screwed by the same no-calls. I can't remember a time, however, when I saw sooooo many players getting pulled or climbed on before the ball arrived. Again, it seemed to be pretty even against both teams but come on man! And a holding call or two (which you can just about call on any play from scrimmage) would have been nice. When the OL has a mitt full of jersey and that jersey is being used to re-direct the defender .... well I'm just saying that might be case for a little bit o' the yellow laundry. Not an excuse for a W or an L, but the strength of the SEC officiating is in question ... again.
True. But I preferred this crew to Penn Wagers or Tom Ritter, who try to become part of the game with the number of flags they throw.
