Without knowing all of the details, I think there are valid points of negotiation for both sides. When you're talking about billions of dollars and enormous projected growth, there will inherently be issues of contention. Improved health coverage for retired players seems to be an obvious area that needs to be addressed. I think one of the issues that hasn't been discussed much is the entirely different stadium financing from one franchise to another. Some franchises are getting free rent while others have an enormous expense. The owners with the huge rent expense feel they "need" more of the revenue to make it a viable long-term business. I'm guessing this is why they've only released the average financials for the league, rather than each team individually. Fans may be upset when they understand that some franchises are making huge profits due to public financing, while others are making much less profits since they have to pay their own rent.
Bull. Give me $5.6 million at age 35 and I guarantee you I'll never have to work another day. Of course, Red would hate me and I'd be evil.
How is that different from the rest of us? No kidding. I'm 30, and if given $5.6 million today, I can guarantee I'd be worth triple that by retirement age. I wouldn't be living in a house worthy of MTV Cribs, by any stretch, and that's something a lot of these players would do well to realize.
what nerve these players have wanting more money. they are going to turn these poor billionaire owners, into billionaire owners. what a bunch of jerks.
they can want 90% of the money. it doesnt matter. its not about right and wrong. its about who is the boss and who is the employee. you can choose to go work elsewhere the same as you. its the golden rule. he who has the gold makes the rules. if you dont like it, enjoy serving big macs and paying for your bentley.
operator's are standing by. credit cards accepted. sorry, but all my offerings just went into the taf/season ticket collection plate. talk about tithing! :hihi:
