There's a rumor that with the NFL lockout possible, CBS and/or Fox may want college football on Sunday. I heard it because they thought Fox might get the rights to Syracuse's first game and move it to the Sunday(which I hope they do since I want to go to Oregon game). Anyway, what's the opinion on this? Obviously Saturday is the best day no matter what. But what if a move to Sunday meant taking a 2:30 game and making it happen later(or even at night)? Would the move be worth it? Would some not care what day it is no matter what? I'll go one step further, what if the money generated from a move to a Sunday game meant that they could eliminate the parking fees for this year? Would you sacrifice Saturday games for the money?
If Fox ever gets college football on Sundays, it's going to be from a conference nobody wants to watch. ESPN has the SEC locked up, and already shows a lot of Big 10, Big East and ACC games on Saturday mornings. NBC gets ND, ABC/ESPN gets the Pac10, and everybody else that matters is covered by local or school networks. So what does CBS get to do with SEC games? Would they make a lateral move to replace afternoon NFL games on Sunday? If so, that really wouldn't solve any of our day game issues, and CBS already has Sunday prime-time programming they probably don't want to mess with. If they did it seems like they'd already take a stab at competing with NBC for Sunday night NFL games.
college football is a religion. and i personally worship at the church of tiger stadium. that said, i dont know how i would feel about sunday becoming a new sabbath for me. but the money changers will never go back on the parking fee's idea.
if the nfl is locked out there will be nothing to watch on sundays. college football is the only viable replacement. One or the other needs to be aired all day sunday. I dont care which. just get it done.
Not to worry friend. There will be too many of the NFL players that are not signed to mega contracts that will have no choice but to go back to work. The players will cave.
Any of y'all old enough to remember the last NFL players' strike? It sucked. I really hope they get it settled without losing part of the season. As it is, it will be hard for some the big stars to be "right" with their owners ever again. (Thinking of Manning and Brees among others.) I was in Denver for the last one and it totally screwed up the team for several years.
Pay attention Sparky, I'm not talking about the likes of key nu-nu reeves and gene hackman. I'm talking about the big boys. The NFLPA will get too much pressure from the 3rd string OL for Tampa Bay and all those like him. There are going to end up being too many people affected by this that don't have the ability to ride this thing out financially. They will have to come back to the table and the owners will win. Its the sort of stuff that really pisses red off. Rich mofo's with absolutely nothing better to do than get richer. The NFL is too much of a big time league and everyone knows it. This too shall pass my friends.
