I was listening to the retards in the Post Game show ..and it is apparent that "Style Points" is becomming the en vogue flavor of the day. .... and they seem upset that LSU and CLM are not taking the gloves off and embarrassing other teams. Bama got a "style point" game yesterday (52-7), which was more a function of Ol PIss giving the ball back every chance they could within the Red Zone. Don't be suprised if they leap frog LSU in the AP poll this week. .. which is fine with me. Even though my indepth SOS analysis has Bama facing stiffer competition to date (excluding yesterday), I don't believe the numbers. I still don't feel in my gut they've faced a team worth it's salt. LSU will be their first real nemisis game. .. .and I think we win it based on offensive depth and variety of weapons, provided our O-Line is healthy when we play them. :geaux:
I couldn't care less about style points (not worth risking injury and taking snaps away from less experienced players). But we did score in the final minutes of the game. I think we control our own destiny, though, and feel good about our chances. This is the best LSU team in a while. If Miles keeps this up he'll be among the elite discussion from now on - the idea that he's just crazy lucky will evaporate.
+2. These two points are key. Boise needs style points; Wisconsin needs style points; we just need to score 1 more point than the opponent in the rest of our games. Experienced depth becomes more and more valuable over the course of a season. We have that at every position and its a big advantage. Miles is keeping everyone fresh and in game shape. We're good!
Nobody ever won a game with "style" points. All that matters is winning in a rugged league like the SEC. It will take a lot of depth to win out in the SEC, especially with Bama on the calendar. As soon as we have the game won, smart coaches start pulling starters to avoid unnecessary injuries and to develop depth among the reserves for when it happens anyway. We have another 6 or 7 games to play. Some team ranked 20-25 may need to show off to try to get a better bowl game. But a championship contender must manage injuries and stamina and stress as well as X's and O's. LSU has a schedule that guarantees a national championship if we win out. Nothing else matters but winning every game.
LSU will still be ranked #1 when the BCS poll comes out today. And THAT doesn't even really matter since the winner of the LSU/Bama game won't need any "stylin".
ESPN's BCS guru Brad Edwards has them projected 3rd when the poll comes out later today, behind OU and Bama. Then Ok. St. #4, Boise #5, and Wisconsin #6. It really makes no difference now though. If things play out the way they have been thus far, the winner of Bama/LSU will likely be playing the Ok. St/OU winner in the title game.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why he had Oklahoma at #1 in that projection. I guess we'll see tonight. I mean, struggling with Kansas until the 4th quarter propelled them up to #1 from #3 in last week's projection?
