If LSU’s defense and special teams perform as well next year as this year, I don’t see us doing too much more on offense undr the best of circumstances.

    This year LSU

    Passing Rank
    Attempts – 249 111th
    YPA- 8.2 20th (T)
    Com % - 63.1% 37th (T)
    Rating - 155.6 15th

    Rushing
    Attempts – 529 14th
    Avg. – 4.9 yds 15th

    Total YPG – 386.8 62nd

    Total plays Run 778

If LSU ran 50/50 pass-run (the most you could expect from a Miles’ team and this is probably a stretch

    389 passing and rushing

Assuming averages stay the same (remember passing YPA is good)
    265 yds. Passing
    159 yds. Rushing
    424 yds/game

Additional 37 YPG – would rank us about 30th.

I think mett will allow for more downfield passing. I expect him to grow into a qb that can make that hot read on the blitz package and really burn a team. I hope I'm right. I really think mett will avg around 250 yards passing and with that defenses will have to play the pass. Our running game will take off without the safeties stacking the box.

I hope coach Stud stays. I dread the bugs-confusion-slow and incremental-whatever implementation of a new offensive system. Plus we know Krag and Stud have worked well together this year. There is no guarantee a new OC and Krag could work together.

Alot depends on if this oc is implementing the offense clm wants. Crowton did not play the offense that clm prefers, in my opinion. I think this time miles got an oc that understood what he wanted to do.
Miles is an old o-lineman. Stud is an old o-line coach. They are going to naturally prefer to play smashmouth football where they run the ball down your throat and make you quit. Lineman like that style of play.
If stud puts on the field clm's vision of what he wants his team to do then I don't see why miles will send him packing. I think this is what miles wants lsu's identity to be. A beat your brains out power running play action passing offense. Stud gives him just that. The offense scores points playing ball just like miles wants them to. I don't think things change much from what we are doing. This is lsu football. Were going to punch you in the mouth.

Meyer will be going after a bigger hire for his coordinators.

I already heard rumblings he is going after Florida's strength coach and one of their position coaches (cannot remember which).

OC at LSU to OC at oh st is not even a lateral move, it's a step down.

Besides, I bet it's a hell of a lot better to work for Miles than that weasel anyway.

It's hard to say "not gonna happen"--because this is coaching we're talking about...

However, while Stud's appointment as OC WAS unforseen and unfortunate, you CAN NOT say too many negatives with the job he's done.

Crowton was a pass-first OC operating under a run-first HC. Miles gave him a rather long leash....but Crowton's faceplant came when his offense was too difficult for either Lee or JJ...both average but not great QB's.

Now Stud's playcalling has utilized the strengths of our dominant running backs without putting TOO much pressure on the QB's to HAVE to win the game on their own.

Stud might not have been on anyone's list for permanent OC, but he just might have played himself into the spot.

Remember, this isn't exactly like the outcomes the co-DC fiasco caused a few season's ago.

Not bashing JJ or Lee by saying this, but hey, facts are facts: they've both struggled at multiple times throwing the ball...for various reasons.

When Miles finds a more polished QB (stronger in terms of reading defenses and in accuracy...and thicker skin to shake off one bad play and keep from snowballing), our passing game will gradually improve when coupled with the running style we've shown.

There's little doubt that Miles would want an offense that ave. 400+ yards per game (split evenly 200 rush/200 pass) but utilize a ball-controlling offense.

That's proving to be a championship formula - just ask Oregon, W. Virginia, and Arkansas.

I think Stud is getting the JJ treatment from a lot of our fans. They simply refuse to look beyond perceptions that were created in years past. Many seem to think that he was the cause of OL woes 3 years ago, and somehow insist that this means he can't possibly be a good OC. Nevermind the fact that we now have the best and probably deepest OL in the nation, and nevermind that the offense is putting up nearly FORTY ppg: Coach Stud clearly sucks. Let's help him pack. :rolleye33:
