I didn't realize students had to meet certain critera in order to be eligable to get BCS tickets. This is one of the best ideas the LSU ticket office has ever had. http://www.thenewsstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007712130342
Yeah, and my two tickets were damn worth it! However, there is a major flaw with the system; You can only receive priority points if you attend an away game with an LSU student id. I have attended every game this season with the exception of Kentucky, but I did not get any points for those games because I bought 3rd party tickets. I wish that they would enable any student to swipe their ids if they go into a game, even if it isn't a student ticket. But I guess that I cant complain, because the soccer and volleyball and pep rally that I attended made up for the difference, and I went to the SECCG, and now have 2 to the BCS NCG!
You get 20 points per home game. 5 points per road game (including SEC championship). But they also had a combined four priority point bonus games for (2) soccer and (2) volleyball. That's 2 points per bonus game for a total of 8. And they also gave out 1 bonus point for attending the homecoming pep rally. That breaks down as 20 x 7 = 140 + 5 x 6 = 30 + 2 x 4 = 8 + 1 ____________ Total possible points: 179 You only needed 150 points to qualify for the BCS championship game. Best. Idea. Ever. Otherwise I'd be watching the game on TV.
Why do you only get 5 points for an away game? You would think they would reward the students more who made the trip to the away game.
At first, maybe. But as you go through your years, you get more points (since each year is based upon your points from the previous year). Not to mention that every year there will be at least one game that's an easy ticket. For instance, the point requirements for Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Kentucky this year were really low. The amount of points necessary is based upon the demand for tickets (though points only become a factor is the requests exceed the number of tickets), so as you can imagine, games like Alabama this year or Auburn last year were hard to come by because of the point requirement.
And my biggest gripe of the point system. There is a large chance that I will not be in the band next year. 4 years of going to every game will amount to me being a freshman on my fifth year at LSU. Yes, I could attend the WBB or soccer, etc. But in the long run those amount to almost nothing compared to the FB home games. It has been addressed to the SG, but they don't care because it only affects a couple of students a year.
I dont think that points carry over from the previous year. Maybe post season, but you shouldnt have a problem
It is too hard to get points for the away games for students, because we are only given 500 to each game. Which is why they should let you scan your id without a 'student ticket'
Alright. The points for the previous season determines how many priority points you will have for the following season, which they use for getting tickets for the away games. But for the post-season, LSU uses the points that you accumulated from the current season. So in other words, my away game tickets that I got this season were based upon the points I earned from the 2006 season whereas my SEC Championship and BCS National Championship tickets were based upon the points that I earned this 2007 season.
