Who claimed it was the reason we lost? 1 person maybe. People are simply pointing out what is common in most gump games. It doesn't imply our offensive line was good. Has nothing to do with that conversation.
The OLine got dominated. Manhandled. It's that simple. I'm not sure if it's recruiting, fundamentals and development, or strength and conditioning.... but Bama's guys kicked our boys butts all night long. Collectively. Etling was under pressure the entire game and missed 4 throws, if my memory is correct. On the few occasions Etling did have time, he wasn't very good. Our D was TREMENDOUS. Fast. Didn't budge an inch until the 4th quarter. We had the ball for 18 minutes of the first half, and had excellent field position. The blocked / missed FG in the 1st quarter hurt us. That whole 3 play sequence after the interception hurt, BUT-on 3rd down Williams boat races by Malone Jr and Etling gets sacked. A series or two later we complete a 40 yard pass to Chark putting us around midfield and we couldn't get 20 more yards and 3 points. And I think we had the ball again in great field position with a minute left before halftime with a timeout or two and couldn't get points.
I saw 2 great defenses Saturday night. Super talented. Fast. Gang tackling. Exactly what you want your defense to be. But Bama has better players on the offensive side of the ball than we do. At least at 6 positions - LT, LG, C, RG, RT and QB.
Out of 128 teams, Bama's opponents have been penalized how many times? The ranking is 126th. Yet, this continues. http://www.cfbstats.com/2016/leader/national/team/defense/split01/category14/sort01.html
I think its been discussed enough and evident you can't get anything through your thick skull so I'll just leave it at that.
I think the thing that makes so many fans angry was it was three holds, not one hold that someone could understand being missed but three!!
