Dmeaux, I want to ask you this question and it's a rhetorical one...that means it's meant to provoke thought instead of a real answer. And by extension, I want to ask all of you people out there that have as much HATE in their heart as Dmeaux does. I really want each and every one of you to really think about this question. I ask myself this question many times in one form or another. I ask it sometimes out loud to myself whenever I lose it...whenever I get really angry about something...whenever I find myself so mad that I'm cursing like a sailor. What's the REAL problem? People don't get this upset over a football game that's meant to entertain you...that's played (at LSU anyway) by some of the finest young men ever to form a team...that have worked and sacrificed countless hours just to be where they are in their lives right now. What's going on in your life? What causes such hatred to come out of you? It wouldn't come out if it wasn't really there in the first place. Something's wrong...and it ain't Miles. What is it? (I'd be more concerned about that, than Miles' coaching abilities...than how these fine young men execute a play.)
Good post Steve...and something that everyone should take to heart. In the grand scheme does any of it really matter?
Thats really an excellent question, I mean if a football game gets someone that upset, its really time to step back and look at your life. good post Steve.
I'm in the same boat. Any coach can and will make mistakes. Sometimes it is in the first quarter, and the team recovers. Sometimes it costs games. This time, it was the latter, but if everything else had gone according to plan, it would have never came to one bad call at the very end of the game. His call was a mistake, but not one that results in termination :tigereye:
I agree with that. Les Miles has proven himself to be a great member of the community and a good family man. He promotes a family-friendly environment for working on his staff (and many accounts showed that NOT to be the case under St. Saban.) He handled last year's co-DC debacle with class, without publicly humiliating the men who worked for him. Now, after one particularly horrendous few minutes of football, some folks think it's fine to tee off on this man and talk about him like he's dirt. It's been bubbling under the surface for five years, and Saturday's tectonic meltdown caused the resulting eruption of venom spewing from the mouths of supposed Tiger fans. Everything from calling this man a liar to suggesting that all of the young men on our team are retarded. What's the REAL problem??? Is it Miles?
Definitely not Miles, some people just like to sulk and repeat their idiotic points over and over and over again... I get tired of that, I know this is an open forum, but some folks make it hard not to respond to their stupidity. This is a successful athletic program in many areas, football being the biggest one, we have 2 NC this decade, 2. Miles is not a stupid guy, he will fix what is broken, he wants to keep his job just like anyone else in America.
:geaux: I seem to remember Saban throwing Josh Booty under the bus after the loss to UAB in 2000. Miles would not have done that, and he had plenty of opportunities last year with Jarret Lee and never did it once! He also never threw his Co - DC's under the bus last year and he had plenty of opportunities to do that as well. CLM is a class act and that seperates him from Saban in many, many ways. And talking about Saban lying, though not to LSU but to Miami, he said right on national TV "I will not be the coach at Alabama", and wa - lah a couple of days later he was in Gump-land. While Saban is obviously a great coach, he has no loyalty or integrity and looks out for his own interest first and foremost. That's funny. He demands loyalty and integrity from his players but does not exhibit those traits himself.:nope: Yes, Miles effed up in the last minute of the Old Piss game. He admitted it and I respect him for that. And yes, I was sick at my stomach after watching the last minute of the game and was not happy with CLM. But no one is perfect, not even you Dmeaux. That's something you may want to keep in mind. I also read an article where Steven Ridley said that CLM talked to the team and told them the loss was on him and they were impressed. Ridley said the team respected CLM all the more for his manning up and taking responsibility and he (Ridley) was looking forward to playing for Miles for the remainder of his career. I was impressed by that. I'm willing to give CLM the benefit of the doubt and see what happens against Ar-Kansas and in the bowl game. What you need to do first and foremost is get off Saban's tool long enough to take a deep breath of reality. :LSU231:
How many times have you heard Miles say over the last couple of years things like we will get it corrected only to see the same things happen over and over again? So please tell me what makes you think he will fix it?
