I have always wanted the OC gone, but now you can see Miles lied during the press conference. Bad calls and management happen, lying on TV like that when there is a camera every is just plain stupid. Les needs to be gone, he was trying to blame it on someone else... saying he didn't know who told Jefferson to spike it... inexcusable.
How is he lying? * When Toliver caught the ball in traffic at the 6 yard line, an Ole Miss player ripped the ball away after Toliver was down. Miles was not signaling to spike or "clock" the ball, but was telling the ref Toliver was down after the catch and there was no turnover. * The call to spike the ball came from the coaches upstairs who thought Ole Miss had 12 men on the field. This ordinarily would draw a penalty on the defense - the game can't end on a defensive penalty. Just because you think Miles was signaling to spike the ball does not mean that is what actually was happening. But we all know that the Miles haters can NEVER be wrong. In Saban they t(h)rust!
I would agree. How many times in his 5 years here has he had the opportunity to throw a kid or a coach under the bus and he hasn't. I'll say it again, he is not John Brady. We were all screaming for him to say something bad about the defensive coaching staff last year, and a lot have been clamoring for him to say something bad about the offensive coaching staff this year, yet he has held his tounge. So I ask, what is more likely... 1)that he's telling the truth and while it was just boneheaded to say "he was down" in the manner that he did, especially when it looks like he is calling for the spike (not like its the first boneheaded thing he has done as a coach or a person), or 2) He was calling for the spike and decided to throw our starting Sophmore QB under the bus even though he has protected him in the Media all year and protected Lee before him who has made many more mistakes that could have gotten him thrown under the bus. Track record has me saying number 1 is much more likely.
TB05 I agree with you. I have now watched the video no less than a dozen times. From what I see CLM is indicating that Toliver was down and that it was our ball. The way they keep showing 2 segments of the video 1) where it looks like he is saying to spike the ball, and 2) the other where he is running up the sidelines kicking, it doesn't show that those are in sequence. My take is that he is saying in the next gesture, get the fg unit on the field. By seperating the 2 segments the media has made it look like Miles is calling for the spike, and that the 2nd motion of, looking like he is calling for the kicking unit, are not back to back. I maybe wrong, but I think that Miles wanted the kicking unit on the field, and his claim of the spike call came from somewhere else, because they thought OM had 12 men on the field maybe the truth. None of this excuses the blunders that happened over the last 45 sec's of the game, but if he isn't lying then he shouldn't be accused of it. I am not going to defend his actions that really did cost us the game, but one of the things I have liked the most about CLM is his integrity. If his integrity shouldn't be questioned then I will defend it. I am not sure, one way or the other, but I will reserve the right to say, I believe him. I believe that he did stand up, like a man, and take the blame for the loss. That is the type of man that I have witnessed, and I think that is what he has done. edit: after reading the transcript to his press conference today, I admit I am incorrect about the fg attempt analysis, but do believe him even more, that he didn't ask for the spike, or "clock it" call. I am satisfied with his acceptance of the blame, and am now ready to move on to the Ark game. To me his integrity is still in tact and he has admitted his mistakes.
Not everyone is defending him. There are about 6-8 posters on here that can't be objective. They know who they are. It's embarrassing. "Do you want me to jump off the bridge, coach? Okay."
My guess is not many of you were alive in the Archer, Hallman, Dinardo years. I spent too many games plastered to my seat in the student section because we blew game after game. Try sitting through a few 3-4 win seasons then come back and make an argument. Firing a coach with multiple double digit win seasons and a national championship would be suicide for this program. Who would come coach here if such a thing was even remotely entertained by the AD? We have grown spoiled in a era of national championships and better than average seasons. Those teams in the 80's and 90's had talent too...and was squandered. While mistakes are glaring in the Ole Miss game the Coach took full responsibility for it and maintains to do better. With another 10 win season very possible I see support of this staff in order before calling for heads. There are about 105 FBS schools that would love to be in our shoes right now.
Absolutely...great post. It could be much much worse. You guys need to get over it and quit acting like Bama fans.
Ya know whats sad about you... you post about how bad Miles lied, when in reality he didn't and have thrown him under the bus for it... but yet you love saban, who has shown himself on several occasions to be nothinbg but a vile and blatant liar... you my friend have no clue what you're mad at, you just feel like screaming cuz everyone else is doing it. Enjoy yourself... ignore mode you go.
