No, that would mean it's only relevant if he's calling on the super-rich to voluntarily pay more. He isn't. Again, this is a very childish approach to this argument, and it completely ignores his point that the rich are entitled to unfair tax breaks that are exacerbating the country's financial problems.
You are correct. I overlooked the "also". Apologies for the error. My brain is still in vacation mode. . .carry on. . .
All of Buffet's comments on this subject just tink of dishonesty. His very basis of having an issue is wrong. He compares his effective tax rate to the top marginal rates of the other twenty people in his office. If he looked at their effective rates he would find they were like 8 percent or so. Ya know. Less than half of his effective rate which is supposedly too low.
Don't expect an intelligent response because their isn't one. It took me the better part of a decade to learn that Reaganomics, cutting taxes to the rich and their brand of voodoo economics simply doesn't work. It doesn't even work on paper, much less in the real world. Yet these dumb-asses still stick with and argue for policies that actually make them poorer and slowly eradicate the middle class. Just as long as those gays don't get married I guess...
Do enlighten us with your economic genius. Shall we tax the people that innovate and takes risks at 80% while giving handouts to the poor, lazy and/or stupid? I'd love to know what percentage of one's income you think should be taken from them by the government.
Do you seriously mean to suggest that the top 5% of the nations taxpayers have all of the innovation and audacity and that the other 95% of us are poor, lazy, and stupid? It's this kind of insipid commentary that is wrong and wrong-headed about the extreme right wing.
Lay out your ideal Tax bracket amigo. What percentage of a person's income do you think is fair to take for the federal, state and local governments?
Anyone, including Mr. Buffett, can donate money to the federal government anytime they want. If he does not feel he is paying enough in taxes then he should stop taking advantage of all those tax breaks and loopholes. If it could be guaranteed that donations would be earmarked for the deficit, then perhaps there would be more people making donations. But I think everyone knows that the government would use the donations to increase spending.
I just commented about this in the other thread. His argument is ridiculous because no one is paying 41 percent effective rates. Like you said, something ain't right.
