Ahh...a cop out. Even though he thinks he doesn't pay enough and the "right" thing would be for him to pay more, he doesn't because it just wouldn't be enough. That's a bullshhit excuse and isn't logical. If he paid $5 billion dollars, the country would be $5 billion dollars closer to having do debt. $5 billion dollars is a lot of money. Do you know how many hours the poor would have to work to generate $5 billion dollars in tax revenue? Maybe if he walked the walk and paid more like he is demanding others do, then maybe other super rich folks would join his guilt bandwagon and donate billions too and so on and so on. Maybe they could lower the debt by a trillion dollars. BUT HE DIDN'T. Do you use that same logic when it comes to teaching your kids right and wrong? Maybe you teach them it's OK to steal from Wal Mart, as long as it's under $20. After all, as you said, it certainly wouldn't have a "profound effect" on a giant corporation like Walk Mart. It must be OK since it's not much in the grand scheme of things. The fact is you can't answer the question and your "profound effect" excuse is just that, a lame excuse. Buffett is a hypocrite who won't do what's "right" even though he has the freedom and money to do so. The actual amount is irrelevant.
essentially, the fact that buffet is himself rich is not relevant to the fact that he wants to tax the rich. taxing the rich is no more valid of a strategy for it coming from the mouth of a man who is rich and wants to take the money from the rich.
I don't disagree with anything that you said here. I think that we can change the tax code on the super-rich and they will still have enough money to be filthy rich, save the africans and hire middle class. Of course at the same time that the Feds change tax codes on the super-rich, it would be nice if they would cut spending, cut back on entitlements, etc......but that would take sense and that is something that Washington has little of right now.
You have lost all credibility with me. From now on, consider my questions geared toward Martin as I'm not interested in any of your ignorant logic.
i see. well i just kinda think that the more money they have, the better. i dont really think it matters who gets taxed, the rich or the middle class or the poor. i think it all washes out the same. if the rich are taxed, they hire less, so the regular folks have less. and if the middle class are taxed, they have less. i dont think it makes any difference who is paying. we should always strive to have people paying less, no matter who it is we are charging. so a tax on the rich is effectively a tax on regular folks.
Don't get mad bro. You made an excuse for Buffett and tried defending him with BS. By your ignorant logic, "right" and "wrong" should be qualified with whether or not it has a "profound effect". I not only showed that $5 billion dollars WOULD have a profound effect, I also showed how illogical your argument of "profound affect" is. If Buffett wants higher taxes for the rich then that's his right, but he's hypocrite for not stepping up to the plate and doing what he demands of others.
I'm not mad, chief....and you really shouldn't use quotes over the words "right" and "wrong" when referring to my comments b/c if you read closely pal, I never typed those words (use ctrl+f if you don't believe me). Have a great day, Ace.
BTW, the simple fact of the matter is that if Washington wasn't wasting so much f-ing money, the "rich" wouldn't have to be taxed more to pay down a debt that shouldn't exist in the first place. Then maybe they could have more money for more businesses and jobs. And even if they didn't create any more businesses and jobs, so what. It's their money they can do what they want with it. If it's so easy to get rich, I suggest liberals hop to it. There are a lot of poor people and kittens they can save and they are wasting time.
