Odd things had to happen in 2003 for us to get to the NC game and it's possible it could happen again. First off we have to knock the snot out of Tennessee, if that dosent happen we dont deserve to be there anyway.
But if that happens and Okie beats Mizzou, a strong possibility, and Pitt beats WVU (at Pitts home field, so is possible) then with a strong showing against Tennessee we could very likely meet Ohio St in the game. I think we would jump Georgia, Kansas (neither champions of there own conference) and V Tech (who I'm sure the pollsters still remember we stomped). Being SEC champions will carry a lot of weight when the polls come out.

we lose two games in triple overtime and you call us chokers? Could be worse, we could be fans of some other team other than the Tigers. Probably just frustration, yeah it hurts but need to get over it.

I was refering to our level of play in OT. We just gave up on plays in both games.

The only problem is no way WV loses to Pitt.

I still don't understand the fact that when a team loses it is because they choked...It never is because on that particular day the other team was better...I don't know, it just sounds pretty shallow to me.

LSU is #7 now in the BCS..No way they're playing in the NC with one game left...We can still win the SEC and a BCS bowl and make it a pretty succesful season.

the defense was mangled, beaten and bruised. they didnt quit. there is a difference. you were not beaten and mangled because as Swerved said, we just set up a grill and drink a beer then pretend.

those kids wanted it moreso than any of us can ever imagine. they put in the blood, sweat and tears.

sometimes its not in the cards. we weep for a day or 3 and move on.

it sucks but hey, we have phatimus on the horizon and june jones just across the bayou. a 12 win season will not suck.

no chance. what are they a 10 td favorite?

Our chances at the NC are just about zero. The stars would have to fall right into place, and the voters would have to make a serious effort to keep tOSU out and LSU in.

We should direct our attention to UT and the SECCG and hope we can win that one.

I was listening to WJOX here in Birmingham today while running errands. They had a guy on from ESPN (can't remember his name) but he is ESPN's resident BCS expert. Bascially a computer nerd that crunches numbers and algorithms based on different teams winning/losing. Here's the rationale for LSU returning to #2 in the BCS if and only if West Virginia loses to Pitt and Missouri loses to Oklahoma. One interesting thing to note is that the guy said that since "lines" were introduced in college football, teams favored by 28 points or more win 98% of the time. Guess what...WVA is favored by 28 over Pitt (For those wondering...UL-Monroe was 26 point dogs to Bama). Here's the breakdown assuming we beat the Vols (and a convincing win sure would be nice but now I'm hearing Flynn may be out with a shoulder injury)...

    1. Ohio State would move into the number one slot since they only have one loss and are done with their cream puff schedule (he called them out on this too).
    2. West Virginia would not make it as a two loss team due to their lack of quality wins (their best win was against UConn or Cincy?!?!?) and lack of an extra game (conference championship) against a ranked opponent.
    3. Missouri's loss to Oklahoma would mean that they did not win their conference...so they are out. He made a point to mention that the whole "not win your conference but play for a NC" would never happen again.
    4. UGA would not move up for two reasons. One, they did not win their division and two...they didn't win their conference because they didn't even play in the SECCG. If you're gonna knock Mizzou out for losing to OU...well there goes UGA as well.
    5. Kansas....see previous explanation on UGA as well as their PATHETIC schedule this year.
    6. Va Tech...oh our 'ol friends the Hokies. The team that we thumped by 41 points when they were ranked in the top ten...as they are now. How they are ranked ahead of us right now is beyond me. Anyway, the way the guy talked about Va Tech was this. We have not been impressive to say the least over the past few weeks. Barely squeaking by week after week. Had we only beaten Va Tech by 7 or so...they would stay ahead of us. However, even though (and these were his words) this is a completely different LSU and a completely different Va Tech team right now, we would move ahead of them due to our 41 point thumping.

So there you have it. Broken down by ESPN's BCS computer nerd. Heard it first hand and the lead into this guy's segment by the hosts was "you'll never believe what two loss team still has a chance to play for the NC."

    To quote Jim Carrey....."So you're saying there's a chance....YEEEEEEEEA!!!!!"

GEAUX TIGERS and take care of business against the Vols!

    Matt

No, tOSU will be there if we were to get there. (agreed, it's a long long shot, but so was 03)
