Why would we want it less if we're playing for the NC? Is there anything more important than that that Im not aware of? That is called choking my friend, Mike Tyson style. You start getting tired in OT, then you decide to just give up.
The funny thing is I dont know who to blame. Miles has been a great coach, played some close games with a lot of come from behind victories with some really gutsy calls. Bo Pelini had a great defense in 2006, but has had a bust of a secondary in 2007. Crowton has done a good job in my opinion with less talent than Fisher, who combined for 13 points in 2 games with some of the best players on offense. We have very talented players that "can play any sucker in this country." What's the reason? Who's to blame?
I don't call last week a choke job because of what last week was all about. 1) Miles & Pelini new coaching jobs. 2) We already had the east clinched. 3) Thanksgiving week. 4) Ranked #1 (It's different when you are the hunted) 5) Arkansas had more to play for. Yes I know, we were playing for a national championship. But the Arkansas game was not the NC game. Our guys still came out and played through all this and their injuries into 3 OT's. I can't call my Tiger's chokers. They all competed and just could not get it done. I hope they can bounce back this week and win the SEC. Who knows, we might get lucky and back in.
We lost. So what? The answer is don't blame anyone. These things happen and as they say "This is why we play the games."... Otherwise they could have just freighted the BCS trophy here and told everyone else to go home in September. I hate the fact we lost too.. But now that it's happened it's on to focusing on the positives we still have (for me, anyway). Unlike alot of teams, we still have 2 fairly important games to play and we've already accomplished a few things no other LSU team has ever done... Many teams and fans alike would trade places with us in a heartbeat. Back when ol' Curly was our coach if someone would have told me LSU would accomplish the things they have over the last few years I'd have called them an idiot... I'm happy I got to see it in my lifetime.
I didnt call the players chokers, I called the team chokers. The team has more to do with coaching, play calling and leadership.
IMO, I think biggest question in this scenario would be LSU beating Tenn convincingly. I would be more surprised at a LSU blowout of Tenn than Pitt beating WVA and certaingly more surprising than OU beating Mizzou.
I don't want to debate this anymore. I've never referred to my Tigers as chokers and never will. It's your right to call them whatever you want to.
Im sorry but I just cant get over it. I took a few days off this forum, didnt watch any ESPN so that I wont remember that awful game but I just still cant get over it. It's too disappointing to lose something you've worked all season to accomplish, and was just a 4th and 10 and a game away from.
Yeah.. Again, So what. We lost. We weren't the best team on that day.. and apparently aren't the best in the nation as it turns out.. When the games get played sometimes we discover these things. I hate it too, but that doesn't make it not so, nor will I make myself miserable over it. No need to be sorry, but as a suggestion if you can't move on, perhaps curling would be a more suitable spectator sport for you. As a serious question, are you even old enough to remember what LSU Football USED to be like? I do... I hate that we lost, but damn man, it's not the end of the world, I promise. Oh yeah? You work out with the team? You a player or coach? If so I could see that level of frustration being justified. I'm just a fan. My prep for the season (aside from ticket costs and donations) is getting out there at daybreak, setting up, drinking and cooking, screaming for 3+ hours straight, then tearing down (and picking up my trash) so I can do it again the next week (since '91)... I guess I got it easy. Look, I'm not saying you're wrong for being angry or frustrated. We're on the same team. I just think that if you breathe a bit and take a look, things aren't nearly as bad as they seem for LSU. The loss hurt. Hindsight shows us all a million things that would have changed the outcome, but truth is like it or not, we gotta wait till next year to try and rectify it... :tigereye:
