Great Teacher I would anticipate things working out great with Kragthorpe, and you should see him take full advantage of the great talent you have in place. The guy can coach, folks from Tulsa can tell you that before he arrived here TU football was on it's last leg. There was serious consideration being given to dropping the program, that's how bad it was. Kragthorpe developed every drop of talent, and took the team from the depths of despair to a rock solid program with a high-flying offense before leaving. Louisville was not the right situation for the guy, just a bad fit, and people forget before he took that job he was rapidly becoming one of those "next big things" in the coaching ranks. You don't have all of the success he had, and suddenly you're not any good because of a bad run at a place like Louisville. If he had waited on a better situation, and stayed in Tulsa for another year or two I still believe he'd be running a top flight football program right now. Great character, he will fit in with Miles like he's already been there for years, and will impress any recruit's family. The teaching side of Kragthorpe when it comes to quarterbacks is also going to be invaluable, he had three decent athletes at Tulsa that he developed into very sharp capable quarterbacks. So you'll have one of the best qb coaches in the country now to groom Jefferson, Lee, and the jc kid Les signed. So in that department you'll take a backseat to nobody in the SEC or anywhere else, and in the future you should be in on any quarterback propsect you want to go after. All these positives with Kragthorpe along with him being an innovative offensive mind will start to sink in with your opponents fairly quickly next fall.
Scout.com: SEC Bloggers: 5 Thoughts On LSU's New OC Pretty good write-up/opinion piece on College Football News regarding the hire.
I'm sure that "everyone" knows that it typically means "the majority" in this context. I was over-the-top rude on ONE post in my three years here, and suddenly I'm on your bad side? Stop busting my footballs, please.
well, since you said "please"..... and that was not "busting your footballs". i asked politely. busting your footballs would have been something like "gd it, speak for yourself, some of us have supported miles and gave miles credit from the beginning." trust me, you'll know. :hihi:
I'm really excited to see this team play. I really wish we would have started out with Northwestern State instead of Oregon though. Kind of a big first game ya know... And doesn't it seem like our coordinators struggle in their first games? Crowton struggled in 07 against Mississippi State even though the scoreboard didn't reflect that sentiment. Remember our Defense kicked arse that day. Pelini let Sam Keller and Arizona State rope a dope us, if not for a phantom touchdown reception by Early Doucet we dont' win(sorry still don't think that was a catch, at least it wouldn't be ruled a catch today) Chavis kind of got pushed around by Washington in his first game. Malveeto didn't but we played Appy State. Now we got Krag goin against Oregon..... Damn, that's like giving Mike Tyson a baseball bat, going into round one and having barbecue sauce on your ear. Hope it gels fast.
Just read an article on how Kelly from or and Gus m from auburn run a very similar hurry up spread option offense. What got my attention the most was that both offenses say they have only 6 or so running plays and 6 or so passing plays ran out of various formations. Gus says in the article that too many plays causes confusion and that students have a hard time perfecting an over elaborate scheme. I am wondering what will krag see as our core plays and strengths ? I think that was lsu's offensive problem. Jack of all trades master at none. I can't wait to see what krag's decision will be in the direction the offense goes.
I was talking with a college coach today, he likes the hire. Les and LSU has done well. Very well was his reply. The TCU OC would have been ok. This one is better. He puts Krag above most of the names that were out there. :tigereye:
