sorry if I overreacted, but I realize where I am, and enjoy it enough to help make sure it's able to keep providing the value it does. I'm not over here talking crap about the buckeyes, or LSU, just asking people to treat others with as much respect as an internet chat board will afford. Call it my need to be the voice of reason. I'm not trying to start a fight or whatever, but i won't stand idle and watch others (not referring to this thread) bash my team. Sorry, just the way it is...
I understand that but it was just the tone of your initial post that made it sound very aggressive. I admire you for defending OSU and at this point of time it's a tough task to change what people think of Ohio State. I thought it was funny and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Don't worry, we have people who make these kinda things for all schools. I'm sure you've seen a couple for Michigan.
For the record, we play Kent State because of a contract with the MAC. We played Akron and Youngstown State on our own, though. The worst part was playing Washington, imo. They were expected to be much better when we scheduled them 10 years ago. Either way, I mean, LSU also played two weaker teams from the state of Louisiana, and Middle Tennessee State. The difference is that their conference is on like whoa, the Big Ten is, sadly, down, and Virginia Tech was just a tad bit better than Washington. Either way, it was still an amusing image.
Dude, I feel the exact same way. There's no reason you can't be happy for your team, but gloating will come back and bite you. I don't want to make it sound like I'm an angel and never done it, but I try to stay away from it. Then again, this is an LSU board. I don't think he'd go posting that on an OSU board, so I don't think it was done to intentionally rub it in anyone's face. :thumb:
Nah, I gloat every chance I get! Rub it in boys!!! I just like to be evil! I keed, I keed...I remember the past and honestly just take pride in the present! Because the past hurts at times! So on that note I see the benefit of not throwing it back in anybodys face when we win! On that note, I loved the pic and showed it to my more rude osu fans but kept it from the good ones. Unforetuneatly here you don't get that priveledge! So 78 we wouldn't do it to you personally but give us a little slack, vball has learned to!
We scheduled Washington after the 2000 season, during which they had gone 11-1, Pac-10 champs, ending rank of #3. We expected them to be a big OOC game, with Rick Neuheisel taking that program up a bit. Sadly, Tricky Rick killed that program, and they weren't a tough road game against a Pac-10 ranked team (As we would have hoped). Sadly, we scheduled Miami while they were on the rise too, for '10, '11. Now, they are falling apart. Unfortunately, this means that we will once against have a weak OOC schedule in those years. Sometimes I think we should really schedule two tough OOC games a year, just in case a program like Washington or Miami implodes. Just sucks.
I agree with your post about those teams being strong when they were scheduled...we've done it before too. But really, it isn't like it hurt you. You wound up in the BCSNCG...as the #1 team going in. Who cares that Washington was a letdown for your schedule?? Truth be told, it was the Big 10 being down that REALLY hurt your SOS...but again, it didn't make one bit of difference...except maybe preparation.
