This is good to hear because I was not sure what his goals were. I like his recruiting and Dlines. Much more aggressive than we have been in the past. I thought we might lose O to a school looking to promote him.
Thank God he's gone. Thank you Auburn for taking away a mediocre DC who was in over his head with all this talent at LSU. Good luck with less talent with this DC, Auburn. Should be a match made in heaven.
LSU needs to go hard after Dave Aranda of Wisconsin. He's only 39 years old. In the last 3 seasons under his DC-ship (national rankings): Yards/Game: 1st 289.4 Points/Game: 2nd 16.9 (only Alabama is better) Passing Yds: 3rd 179.9 Rushing Yds: 4th 109.6 He makes only 520K. Offer him 1.2 million and get his ass over here you dumb phucks.
Isn't Pendergast still at the 49ers? He was my first choice last go round but the talk was he wanted a pro gig if I remember right.
I wondered the same thing but with the thought "he used to be a head coach at Ole Miss ... something tells me he can call a defense." Head Coach > defensive coordinator title, right?
He was quoted recently that he is happy with what he is doing now but a top 5 head coaching job could push him to make a change. With LSU as of now, DC isn't totally out of the question but he will have a new title and the money that comes with it soon. Thinking somethin like Associate Head Coach.
So the list on 247 has Baylor's DC as an option. Why in the hell would we get Baylor's guy, Phil Bennett who was also our DC under Hallman. The circle would be complete for Miles and his transformation into Curly Hallman if that happened.
So to summarize, LSU is about to announce their 3rd DC in 3 years. For a head coach that the LSU admin was a hair's breadth away from firing this year. 4th in 4 years not looking that unlikely.
