Yep, he gone. I would have liked to get Steele another year or two to see what he could actually do.

I actually wouldn't of minded that either but just not at the price Auburn is willing to pay. I would rather aim higher at the price tag.

Hopefully he is replaced by someone that gets linebackers wanting to come here.

Right but we just went through this and came up with him. Who do you think we go after? Chizik? Why not Pelini? He and Miles are on good terms right?

    Think O deserves a shot.

Pelini would be a good choice. I wasn't even thinking about him.

I've really grown to like O, but wonder if DC or HC for that matter is really his strength. I sure don't know, but hope that we keep him in some capacity.

I am glad to see Steele go. I was not pleased with his hire in the first place. He had a mediocre track record as DC. He was the one coach I most wanted to see leave this year but didn't think it would happen because he was hired so recently. In the end this could turn out to be a blessing for LSU.

Yes I would like to see what he could have done in a couple with recruits that fit his system, but he hadn't earned a penny raise in pay. I'm surprised, slightly disappointed, but not crushed by any measure. Miles would have to really screw the pooch to get a less palatable replacement, but he's very capable of doing just that.

So to summarize most of the LSU boards today:

(early) "Good! Take him! He sucks."
(mid day) "Hahaha! We matched his offer. No one wants to coach at your school you dumb Aubs!"
(late) "We didn't want him anyway."
