5th years players that come to mind, Travis Dickson, Justin Maclin, Evan Washington and DJ Welter, have stayed the full ride, best of luck to them from here on out. The few I can think of.
Some word going around that J. Collins may leave. Mills and Hunter may stay. 50/50 on the OL guys. I still think Evan Washington should try an get another year.
I read earlier that Mills was coming back. Collins is definitely gone, which is a big surprise. The article also said, it appears Hunter will leave but nothing certain as of now. I'd love to see him back, I think he could really improve and be a much higher pick. Moving into the first round.
There was some talk of him returning, he is likely to go in the second round. But he can do many things well. Hunter could sneak into the 1st round this year. Guys like him are hard to find. Fast, good field speed, closes fast, there are too many things he does well. Somewhat like Mingo. As for Collins, big CB, too many teams want these.
He is very similar to Mingo. I think he could be big time. I want him to do well and wish him the best either way. I could not at all blame him for leaving. However IMO he is not ready. I think the NFL would be reaching for him if they take him in the first. Which they probably would because of his physical attributes which far outweigh his actual on field production. Which was solid but far from stellar.
So many teams reach. Think about this one, if the Saints switch picks, take a CB with the first pick and a WR with the second, how much better could they have been in the draft. By the time they got to their second pick, not much to pick from. Jarvis Landry was still there . A really good CB in the first round, then Jarvis with the second pick. He would help overall. As for Hunter, I've like him since the first time I saw him play in High School at Morton Ranch, played both sides of the ball and Special Teams.
I thought the Saints should have picked Dennard the CB from Mich St in the first round. I like Hunter too. I think he has a world of potential. I just think he needs to show more consistent production. He has all the makings of a big time hybrid OLB.
So true, they needed a big time CB. You look at who comes out, how deep the position is at CB and the draft depth at WR. That tells you to go CB first. It was set for them. Hunter fits a 3-4 just like Mingo
I didn't see much from Hunter this year that would make me believe he could play at NFL level right away. He needs work on the double team and assignment football if he wants to play at the next level. He has all the physical tools, but mentally he is still a babe and the NFL tight ends/tackles will eat his lunch. Too many intricate schemes in the pros, he would do well to stay.....but I am selfish and want to see how good we can be next year. I met him this year and got to get a pic and shake his hand. The guy is a physical specimen and I am 6'-2" 250 and look small next to him. He seem to be very mild mannered too, probably need to get a little nasty when he starts playing for a pay check.
I feel the same way. Honestly, Mingo has not faired that well so far in the NFL because he was picked higher than his production would have dicated because of his Bowl performance but mainly his physical attributes. For quite a few years I nearly all but quit watching the NBA despite being a huge basketball fan. The game was ruined because of the NBA picking so many kids based on potential. More times than not they did not live up to expectations. Those kids were freak athletes but has no fundamentals. Again, I blame no kid on leaving early. I wish them all the very best.
