Tell me you've actually watched or listened before coming to all these conclusions. http://usctrojans.cstv.com/ "I've listened and talked to Mark like he's my own son". Expect? No. I just happen to know differently. http://wearesc.com/news/story.php?article=562 http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/allthingstrojan/2008/10/ryan-davidson-h.html Ryan is now in hospice care. He opted to conclude any further treatments. http://usc.scout.com/2/699395.html?refid=400&CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=24 I actually saw the presser. And again I was surprised at the comments but I believe too much is being made of it and considering all that I know PC does for others, he deserves a pass.
Vball I know you have acknowledged that this was uncalled for on Pete's part. Why do you think he did it? Lack of self control in this one particular instance?
of course i saw it. no i dont think its overblown at all. it was uncalled for. I cant believe anyone would even attempt to defend it. you should be defending the kid whose day turned into a mockery by your coach.
Surprising, unusual for him, I guess I'm still missing the uncalled for and perhaps it's just because he said what I was thinking. The list of why is probably long but I could guess at a few 1) He genuinely cares about Mark and is convinced it's the wrong decision. 2) He's kept quiet on every other player who has left early. 3) He puts emphasis on community involvement. Mark has energized the local Hispanic community and leaving early doesn't embrace those ideals. 4) He's hurt. 5) He's tired of agents having the upper hand in getting in a kid's ear. 6) He preaches competition. Mark leaving when he had the opportunity to compete at the highest collegiate level is tough to understand for some people, including me. PC isn't perfect, neither am I. I have spent enough time around the man and seen what he has done firsthand. I'm just not that upset over what happened. Should I be? IDK.
I mean you do agree it's uncalled for that he publicly stated those feelings? I thought you had acknowledged that in an earlier post, maybe I misread what was really sarcasm instead. It's one thing to think it, entirely another to take away from Sanchez' biggest day of his life and publicly state those things. Tirk is right about that.
I'd say reason no 5 is the most plausible explanation for Carroll's apparent angst. Sanchez leaving early for the professional stage doesn't undermine the Hispanic community's pride in him at all. In fact, now he'll be able to be an example to a wider Hispanic community. If you're planning to be an attorney and I ever get in trouble, I'd really want you to represent me! you present good arguments.
*Maybe he realized his draft value is high *Maybe he realized Bradford is staying and he'll move up the board *Maybe four years was enough *Maybe graduating was his goal *Maybe he realized they were playing San Jose St., Arizona, and Stanford next season and he realized it would be hard to go undefeated
I definitely think as soon as he heard Bradford was staying, he made up his mind this was the right time. If he shows up at the combine, Detroit could conceivably pick him #1 overall. It's all up to him.
I agree that Sanchez should have stayed. I don't watch USC games, but i don't remember the ESPN morons drooling over Sanchez at any point this season. I know he didn't have near the season Tebow/Bradford/McCoy/Harrell did. This reminds me of JaMarcus Russell. JR volted to the no.1 pick because he outdid Brady in the Sugar Bowl. Now Sanchez has a great game against Penn St., now he's going pro and could possibly go 1st if he has a good combine. I didn't see the PC, but if Pete did what ya'll are saying, he was out of line. It's fine that he didn't agree with Sanchez, but keep that private. Don't throw Sanchez under the bus to the media.
