I am just trying to remember back to a head coach who discussed openly and to this extent the fact that his star player was making a mistake going Pro. That's what struck me the most. I just wonder what I was watching this afternoon, because none of it is in that presser that vball just posted. None of it.
Speaking of Petey, how many more titles would USC have won this decade with Saban, Meyer, or Miles as HC? With the talent and weak conference, you would think PC could have won more than just one. Maybe that's why he whines so much.
obivously. something you just dont do. its pretty unbelievable. you wish the guy well and hope he succeeds despite what you think.
Since when do Tiger fans give any credence to national pundits? For sure they are not Mark Sanchez but hardly a group of losers.....oops, wait, I forgot about SEC stalwart Mitch Mustain. I keed, I keed. I am hearing that Matt advised Mark to go. Why wouldn't he? He's living proof that you can still live large and not have to work. There is very little data to support the concept of successful NFL QB's who had only one year as a college starter. Sanchez has 15/16 games as a starter, that's not much for scouts to go on. He will get eviscerated at the combine. If it's ONLY about money, then yes, right decision. If it's about anything else, then not the best decision. And did the national pundits ever give PC credit for quietly supporting all the other kids who left early? Dwayne Jarrett ring a bell? Fred Matua? Darnell Bing? It makes for a good story and everyone loves to build people up and then tear them down. I'm okay with that concept. I was surprised to hear PC's comments but not disappointed or in disagreement with them either. I know this will likely fall on deaf ears but the truth is that PC does care about these kids, just like CLM does about LSU players. I believe PC sees this decision as wrong........for Mark Sanchez. It's not about losing the golden boy. No one player is bigger than the program. Pete fought hard to keep Mark and I'm glad to hear it. I imagine the same words would be used from any father/father image to a child......."I think you're doing the wrong thing but I support you and will continue to help you".
doesnt matter. seems to me in public all a coach should do is wish the player luck and thank him for giving it his all to *fill in the blank university*. imo, the most negative a coach should be is "we will miss him". anything else is kept private.
That is what I heard on College Football Live (as posted by vball). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "It's hard to champion the cause," Carroll said. "I don't agree with the assessment of the decision. Mark is going against the grain. He knows that. The statistics don't back up that he will be successful in the way he's going about it." Sanchez listened stoically, then reminded everyone that Carroll had always urged him to compete. The competition is in some muggy training camp in Michigan or Wisconsin next summer. Not on Howard Jones Field. "I've been here four years," Sanchez said, smiling. "I've graduated. It's not like I'm not coming back for my senior year. I'm forgoing my fifth year."
i am truly saddened your objectivity sensor has been eviscerated. the entire point is that this was not the venue for such a thing regardless his so-called reasoning. And fox reported he bailed at the end and didnt answer questions while storming out. he was clearly pissed and not because he was worried about the well-being of the kid. tell me, youve not become one of them.
Sanchez discussed going pro with coach Carroll prior to the announcement. NO player would do otherwise. Carroll obviously told Sanchez don't go. Sanchez announced he was going pro anyway. Carroll acted impudently at the Sanchez press conference. the press accurately characterizes coach Carroll's reaction. Yet it's posted that Carroll cares for his players just like Les Miles.... do you really expect us to believe that?
Based on the recent documentaries and interviews I have seen of Carroll one can only assume that he hopes all kids die of cancer. What a terrible guy.
